Hi I'm Heather Bambas

I am a learner, a thinker, and an adventurer. I love trying new things and I love learning new ideas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee, along with three sisters and a brother who all have blonde hair and blue eyes. This might seem a little odd, as I'm a redhead. But if I'm telling the truth, I'm naturally blonde, too. Call me a rebel, but I have an independent streak. I don't flaunt it, and I don't just want to ignore the rules. I just find incredible joy in discovering the new, experiencing differences, and jumping headfirst into unfamiliar situations. My senior year of high school I decided to play soccer. So I did. When I arrived in Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University I thought going rock climbing in a real canyon sounded cool. So I did. I firmly believe in leaving no regrets - if we constantly look back, we can never move forward. If something turns out to be the biggest mistake ever, I move on. I choose to live life my way. That being said, I can't wait for my next adventure - serving a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints starting this summer. For now, I am studying Applied Math at BYU and I am loving every minute.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I have felt this over and over when I pray to know, when I recognize the many blessings in my life, and when I desperately need a reminder. He loves me, and He loves every one of His children. Because of this, He has given us a Plan and a Way back to His presence. I am Mormon because I know that this gospel contains the full truth of His Plan for us. I know that the Book of Mormon, the cornerstone of our religion as it has been called, is a testament of Jesus Christ. I know that Christ lived, suffered, and died for me. But most importantly, I know that He rose again, that He lives. I know this because I have read the Bible, I have read the Book of Mormon, and I have prayed to know that they were true. I could never deny the sweet spirit that I feel whenever I read from these words of Christ. I know that this church is true because it has given me more joy, more happiness, more freedom, and more peace than any other thing in my life possibly could. When I try to count the many blessings this church has brought to my life, I don't know where to begin. I am so thankful to feel His hand in my life every day that I live and I know that you can feel Him with you as well if you have the faith to ask Him. I testify that He lives, that He loves you, that His arms are always there to welcome you, and that He will never leave you alone.

How I live my faith

One of the reasons I love this gospel is the sense of family it brings. Not only is it extremely supportive of the family unit, but as members of this church we are encouraged to build each other up, teach each other, and love one another. In a way, we become one big family worldwide as we learn to serve other children of God. I try my best every day to share Christ's love for me through kindness to those around me, comforting those who need comfort, and strengthening those who need strength. My favorite time of the week is Sunday - when I can go to church and be strengthened and encouraged by all of my friends in the church as we learn together. Another huge blessing for me is the opportunity to visit other women of the church when I and my assigned sister visit and check on a few other sisters we are assigned to. We call it Visiting Teaching and it is a wonderful blessing to be reminded each month that I am loved and that God does minister to us through other people. When I get to visit, I always feel so strongly the love that God has for that woman, and when I am visited, I feel His love for me. After all, I know that if Christ were on the earth, that is what He would be doing - visiting, teaching, and serving those around Him.
