Hi I'm McKay Nielsen

I am currently serving a mission in the Utah Salt Lake City East Mission. I love the Church and I love my friends and family.

About Me

I am McKay. I am currently 20 years old and I am currently serving in the Salt Lake City East mission. When I get home I plan on doing several things. The first and most important is staying active in the Church ;D Along with that, I am going to become an author and publish my book series that I am so incredibly passionate about. I also plan on releasing several other books, including some on applying the Book of Mormon into our daily lives. I am also going to record a full-length album for my band and continue to create more heartfelt music later on. I currently have 12+ songs that I have the melodies, lyrics and overall structures for, so I can't wait to share them with the world. I am also a huge cinema fan, so going to the theaters to catch that new (and wholesome) movie is my forte! I love this Gospel and I know that it has blessed me in my life. Everyday I strive to better myself and to find more and more people like me that I can help and uplift.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've felt over the course of my life the Spirit. I notice all the little things that God does for me and some things are just too much of a coincidence to not be of God. But the number one reason I'm a Mormon is because it gives me hope. Someday I will be able to live with my family again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by actively striving to become the best son, brother and friend that I can possibly be. The thing that is most important to me is being a good person and it's something I can only do through Christ and His Atonement. I am currently serving a mission and am loving everyday. I have met so many people that desperately want to be loved and to be righteous. And it is our sacred duty to help those people. My mission won't end after two years, because being a missionary, honestly, is a lifelong process, an eternal process even. Of course I am not perfect. I am human. But because of this Gospel I know that I can be forgiven. I love people and I wish that everyone could have the knowledge of this true and wonderful gospel. I hope that the books I write and the songs I make will be able to uplift, inspire and save people.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

McKay Nielsen
Nope. You don't have to go on a mission. It is not something you have to do in order to live with God again. What you do have to do, is be a missionary. Help everyone in need, make people smile, invite others to Christ and help them to know of his Infinite Atonement. Don't go on a mission to make your family happy or to please others. You must serve a mission for only two people: Yourself and God. If you aren't ready to serve a mission, but you believe that that is what you personally want to do, then prepare yourself now. Missions may not be the best two years of everyone's lives, but they are the best two years for your life. As long as you serve God honestly and diligently, he will be happy. I am going on a mission, and might be on that mission when you read this, but I'm doing it for God and myself. You might feel a lot of pressure from friends or other church members, but it is between you and God. Show more Show less
