Hi I'm Miriam

I'm a wife, a mother, a teacher, and a pianist. I love family history and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5 children. I've been divorced, a single mom, and now remarried. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and especially like going to the temple, researching my family history, and singing hymns and primary songs. I love to play piano, sing, dance, draw, read, tell stories, and share my talents with others. We attend church in the Spanish branch and enjoy getting to learn the gospel in both English and Spanish as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born Mormon. My parents joined the church shortly after they were married because the spirit bore witness to them of the truthfulness of this gospel as they were taught by the missionaries. I know that I cannot live on the borrowed faith of my parents; therefore I have read the Book of Mormon for myself and prayed to know that it is true. I have felt my Savior's love for me as I repent of wrongdoings, turn to him, and try to be more like him. I have felt him carry me through the hard times in life, and rejoice in all the blessings he has given me. I have felt his holy peace and his spirit guiding me in my life. I have read stories of the latter-day prophets and pioneers and their faith and conviction and courage as they went through difficult times. These stories have strengthened my faith and testimony and deepened my gratitude for them because of the things they went through so that we too might have the blessings of the gospel. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God because I can feel God's love and his spirit when he speaks. I am a Mormon and continue firm in the faith because of have my own testimony that this is where God wants me to be and what he wants me to do.

How I live my faith

I have the privilege of playing the piano for the children's classes, as well in our main meeting and at baptisms. It is a great joy to be able to feel God's love for us through music and hear the love and faith and conviction of the members through their songs of praise to God. It is especially moving to hear the children sing well beloved songs about Jesus Christ and about gospel principles and know that through our music we can all learn and gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. I know that God loves us and wants us to be like him so I enjoy serving and helping others: sharing a song or a smile, a friendly word, baking cookies for the neighbors, or bringing a meal to someone in need. I also like to help others research the family history and enjoy transcribing vital records (such as birth, marriage, and death records) through the churches indexing program. The most important place in which I try to live my faith is in my home. I try to treat my husband and children as children of God, read scriptures and pray with them daily, spend time together doing fun activities, and other important things that help them to feel my love and God's love for them. Being a mom isn't always easy but with God's help and a positive attitude I know it can be very rewarding. I also know that our role as mothers is our most important job here on the earth, to teach our children with love and help them grow in the gospel.
