Hi I'm Elder Kody Brock

I'm passionate for writing, adventuring, music, and smiling! ~ I'm a Mormon. Currently serving in the Anchorage, AK mission! ^_^

About Me

I'm serving in the Anchorage AK mission, and I have grown to love everybody that I've met!! Serving a mission is the greatest choice I have ever made, and the most exciting thing I've ever done! I'm currently serving in Ketchikan which is a beautiful island full of amazing people. I believe in the Plan of Happiness, and it's my favorite thing to share. Music is my favorite -- It helps to energize my soul. I plan on going to many concerts after my mission. I like to dwell within nature! I love hiking, yoga, rainstorms, and looking at the stars. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, and I love doing most anything that requires using the wonderful gift of imagination. I play the guitar, drums, djembe, ocarina, harmonica, and I love to sing! I love to write fictional stories, and I love to journal. Hanging out with friends and making memories are the best. I dream of adventuring! ~ I love to hear other's stories! I like to laugh, and I enjoy seeking out all that is beautiful in this world. I love my family and friends, and making new friendships is one of my favorite things to do. I love being happy! Is there anything better? Probably not haha. I hope to endure many things, and I aspire to be a soldier in Christ's army. 2 Timothy 2:3 I have four younger siblings, and being their older brother has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Families are Eternal, and friendships are too ^_^

Why I am a Mormon

So, my parents divorced while I was a child. One of them was a member of the Church, and told me that I did not have to go, but that it was my choice. There were several problems and hardships that hit me and both of my parents, and I had felt entirely surrounded by darkness... I made the choice to go to church, and through doing so, I had made several friends who made me feel less alone. Something inside of me, even at a young age, made me feel as though I needed to seek for something more. As though there was greatness, and I just couldn't see it. Even though I had been so torn inside, I felt a peace, that I know came from my Father in Heaven. I knew he heard my prayers. I may have been in the middle of a dark abyss, but I was not entirely alone, and never have been-- but I can't say that I haven't felt that way. Through prayer, I have come close to my Heavenly Father, and turn to him for everything. He always guides me, and I have always received answers -- though they may have come in their own, unthinkable ways. The Holy Ghost has confirmed to me, that this is the true church, and I know it with all my heart. I would sacrifice all I have to be able to share this gospel with everyone, because I can testify of the ever-lasting joy and blessings that come from living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ, and I know that he is my older brother, who made the ultimate sacrifice so that all of us have the opportunity to live joyfully for all time and Eternity. We will indeed face trials, that will seem unfair at times... but if we stay in our comfort zone, we can't grow. The cool thing is, if you do your best to live the standards and principles of the gospel, I can promise you that you will not be alone, and that it will be worth it.

How I live my faith

I've always lived by the commandment, "love one another". I believe that when you apply the Doctrine of Christ to your life, and show Charity unto others, then you'll soon learn everything you need to know. I love to share the principles of my faith with others! I like to welcome others to Sunday services, and I've always loved youth activities. I like to share my testimony with others through music and writing. Service is one of my favorite activities. The youth in my ward back home often did service together, and it helped us to grow in unity, and to grow closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. I like to start everyday with a song and a prayer. As soon as I get out of bed, I look for opportunities to help others, and to be a good representative of Jesus Christ. One of my favorite things to do is to look for the miracles and beauties of God all around, as it really helps me to keep an Eternal perspective : This perspective is the one that the worldly things of this life are not of great importance. This keeps the mundane activities and unfortunate events from weighing me down, and it helps me to stay happy in the darkest of times. It also helps me in regards of being successful, as I know that the things that matter the most, are the things that matter to God. I am currently living my faith by devoting two full years of my life to serving the Lord. My goal everyday, is to bring others unto Christ, by helping them receive the Gospel that is truly on this Earth today. As a missionary, I strive to let go of all the things that would distract me from my purpose. I believe that all things are possible through faith and obedience to Heavenly Father and his commandments, so I do my best to follow Christ's teachings, and to do the greatest good that I possibly can. I'm an amateur in all I do, and mess up a lot -- but through striving to follow Him, I am given the strength that I need to overcome my weaknesses.

What is faith?

Elder Kody Brock
I believe Faith to be more of a verb than it is a noun. Faith means to believe in or hope for something that is not proven by fact. To have faith in God, you must reach out to him through your actions, such as sincere prayer, and kind deeds towards others. To show our father that we have faith in him, the best thing to do is follow his commandments. Matthew 22 37-40 If you apply these commandments to your life with all your heart, might, mind and strength, than you truly are on the path of righteousness. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Elder Kody Brock
I love the scriptures. As one who has great passion for books, I look for stories that I can relate to, and ones that pull me to a whole new world--- Ones that really absorb me, and strengthen my desire to seek out the many great and beautiful things in this world. The greatest thing about the Book of Mormon, is the fact that not only does it inspire me to live a better life, but the stories within this book actually happened. My Father in Heaven has confirmed this to me, and I know that our lives on this Earth are of great purpose : We are all to embark on our own personal journeys, and though they may vary in appearance, they are all of such great importance. How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Elder Kody Brock
Well, I'm not yet married, but I have people in my life that mean the world to me, and here's what I'd have to say -- Christ lived a life of perfect love, where he did nothing for his own gain, but everything he did was because he loves us, which includes sacrificing his own life and enduring great pain. If we exercise faith in him, we can make our love for others the main focus behind everything we do. That, my friends, will lead to a successful relationship... but don't take my word for it, try it! :P Show more Show less

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Elder Kody Brock
Jesus Christ. He has servants that have played important roles in the history of the church, but it was all just them being instruments in God's plan of Eternal happiness. Show more Show less
