Hi I'm Jeanie

I grew up on a small farm in Idaho. My husband and I have 9 children and 21 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to help other people. I am a Mother and Grandmother. I enjoy meeting new people. I took care of my Mother who had Alzheimer in my home for 7 years. It was a labor of love. My Mother passed away 2 years ago at 94. We were excited for her to be released from her years of suffering. She could now run, walk and even sing again. She loved music until the end of her life but she could no longer sing. My mother-in-law passed away 17 days later. Although I will miss them both I am happy for the life they can now lead. They both can be with their husbands and be together forever. I want to share that knowledge with others. We live after we die and we can live with our loved ones again.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all of my life. When I was young, my mother read to me from the Bible and Book of Mormon story books. I loved hearing about the creation of the earth, Moses leading the children of Israel out of Egypt and Daniel in the lions den. I thrilled at the faithfulness of Nephi as he went back to Jerusalem to retrieve the Brass Plates. I was also taught about Joseph Smith and his vision of the Father and the Son. I also learned about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. Although I was taught all of these things, I still had to ask for myself if these things were all true. When I was in college I prayed to Heavenly Father and asked if he had restored his true church to the earth once again and if Joseph Smith was a prophet. I found out for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His true church and that Joseph Smith was the prophet of the restoration. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and contains true doctrine. I know we have a living prophet on the earth today, President Thomas S. Monson. He has called my husband and I on a mission and we are excited to go to help others learn what we know and be happy.

How I live my faith

I love to visit the members of my church congregation. Our women's organization visited all the women last year. It was great to find out how much they love their families and are grateful to their family members who serve them regularly. We took them a bottle of water and a loaf of bread to help them think about preparedness. We wanted all of them to have enough food to eat and water to drink. On each bottle was a verse about Jesus being "living water" (John 4:14) and on the bread, "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35). It was to help each of them to be prepared spiritually also. As we come unto Jesus we will be prepared to become like Him. We were also reminded of the Sacrament as we took the sisters bread and water. We invited them to come to church and remember Jesus every week and commit ourselves to love and serve Him.
