Hi I'm Sawyer Dalmer (戴善言)

I was born in Mesa, Arizona. I love drawing, playing League of Legends, and Mountain-biking.

About Me

I was born in Mesa, Arizona, and my family of 9 has lived in 11 houses ever since. I'm the second youngest of 7 and each of my siblings have graduated from a different high-School. Right now I call Sherwood, Oregon home and have left it for the space of 2 years to labor among the Taiwanese people as a voluntary service for this church. I love computer games, I'm pretty sure I've got more steam games than I've had girlfriends. I've loved to draw, but haven't necessarily been good at it until recently. I picked up a fancy of mountain-biking the season before I left for Taiwan, leaving my life was a big decision, but I know that God loves what I'm doing, and will bless me infinitely more because of the sacrifices I've made in his name. One of those such blessings has been through the Word of Wisdom, not because of stopping a habit of smoking or addiction to coffee, but through eating healthy and exercising regularly. Through committing to follow God's sacred commandments, I've lost over 80 pounds(36kg) on my mission and I've noticed it's affected not only my attitude but my ability to spread the Gospel, and run away from dogs.

Why I am a Mormon

In all honesty, my dad was a convert, and my Grandma on my mom's side was also, so I was just born into the church, but over time, I've realized that this church is amazing. The helpful programs for charitable causes as well as youth programs are run by people who are entirely unpaid, and still try to make it the best experience for everyone participating. Needless to say, the Gospel is true, I have a personal testimony of the Restoration of the gospel through Joseph Smith and that the book of Mormon is a true account of God's children in the Americas. Over time I've developed a love for the church, that me and my family has been given so many blessings, both temporal and spiritual. I feel that I need to repay that selfless kindness, and that, combined with my desire to make as many people as possible aware of our Gospel, are why I've decided to serve a mission. To quote hymn "I'll go where you want me to go". I have such faith in Jesus Christ and his teachings and atonement, that I will follow him wherever he leads me.

How I live my faith

Before I left for my mission, I went to church regularly. My dad considered us late if we weren't at least 30 minutes early for church so we could get there to set up the sacrament and be an example for others. And those standards have helped me stay strong in my church attendance ever since. When I was the secretary of my Priest Quorum, the obligation of planning our weekly activities fell on me and the quorum advisers, but they wanted the Priest Quorum activities to be planned by the quorum itself. When they saw how I planned them, one of the advisers later hired me at his company. Pre-mission, I tried to go out with the missionaries as often as time could allow, and I attended mission-prep whenever possible.
