Hi I'm Josh Spencer

I grew up in Middleton Idaho, I love to ski, wakeboard and play guitar and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Illinois but quickly moved to Idaho where I spent my childhood. I Lived mostly around the Boise area but am now living in Sacramento where I'm serving a 2 year mission! I love to play guitar, sing, be outdoors, and have fun! I come from a good sized family of 8 with one older sister, a twin brother, and three younger brothers. I enjoy wake boarding and slalom skiing and spending time with my family. I've always loved music and I sang in choir all through high school. I play guitar and sing and I have performed at local coffee shops and things but never anything too big. I try and live life to the fullest as much as I can. The way I see it, life is way to short to spend it doing anything that makes you less happy than you could be.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and I have felt it is true through prayer. I'm a Mormon because I know that the teachings and doctrines of the church are true and that this church is lead by a modern prophet who relieves revelation on how to lead and guide us. I'm a Mormon because this church is focused on family and on Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon because there is nothing else I would want to be!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full time 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm serving in the Sacramento Callifornia mission and I just love it! I love the people here and I love the opportunity I have to share my beliefs with everyone I come into contact with. For the time that I will be out here my whole life is my faith. We labor to find those who are seeking for the truth and don't know where to find it. As missionaries we are blessed to be able to study the scriptures and other church materials (general conference talks, true to the faith, etc.) for two hours every morning! It is such a blessing to be able to start the day with prayer and scripture study. There is truly no better way. I also am blessed to be able to speak with all kinds of people whom I never would have met otherwise and I am able to see how the gospel can bless their lives. I have the privilege of watching people change and become the sons or daughters of God that they were always meant to be, and I get to be a guide for them. It's amazing to see that hand of God work through me and others in the work of salvation.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Josh Spencer
As a missionary, we share a message about Jesus Christ and about how the church that he set established is once again on the earth today. We teach about the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ and how we can become clean through faith in Him, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. We invite all men and women everywhere to listen to our message and to act on it. To read the Book of Mormon, to pray to know of its truthfulness, and to receive their own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We also teach about the Plan of Salvation and how we can be reunited with our family's after this life and be with them forever if we follow Christ. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Josh Spencer
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It witnesses that he lived, died, and suffered for our sins and mistakes so that we can live with God again. It is written by prophets in the Americas and talks about their dealings with God and their trails and experiences. It containes teachings of Jesus Christ and provides guidance to us in our lives and shows us the path back to our Father in Heaven. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and people will develope a closer relationship with Him by reading it and by applying the principles and doctrines thought in it. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Josh Spencer
I've pondered the purpose of life many times. And I know from study and from prayer and revelation that we are here to learn. We are here to progress and to eventually become like our Father in Heaven. We are also here to receive a physical body and to have families. And it's my experience that part of our purpose here is to have Joy while doing all those things! 2 Nephi 2:25 says that "Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have joy." I'm a true believer in that. I know that it is possible too! I know it's possible to have joy through the trails we face and through the hardships that make us stronger. It's certainly not easy to always keep a joyful outlook on life, but I know that our Father in Heaven wants us to be happy and he has provided a savior for us so we can do just that.
