Hi I'm Abby Mattinson

I currently live in Farmington, Utah. I love being outside and having a good time. I'm 100% a Mormon!

About Me

I just finished my first semester at Southern Utah University. I'm not entirely sure what I'm majoring in, I was thinking about dental hygiene. During college I was on the All Women Rugby team. I was the Scrum and I absolutely loved it! I enjoy being outside, driving anything that I can rev, snowboarding, and playing games. I'd really like to visit Machu Picchu someday, and can't wait to start a new adventure!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I absolutely love the way this gospel makes me feel, and how it makes me want to be a better person. There is a sort of joy and freedom that comes when you put your trust in God and keep all of his commandments. Some may say that it's restricting our lives to follow his commandments and rules, but I believe it's quite the opposite. By keeping to God's standards and constantly improving ourselves, we can avoid Satan's temptations. Satan doesn't want us to feel joy, and when we remain in our sins and don't repent, we are letting him win. I know that if we do what we're supposed to, we'll be blessed. I've already received so many blessings from my efforts to stay righteous. There is a peace and a feeling of love that can't be felt fully unless we are truly converted. I am a Mormon, and I do what I do because I want my Heavenly Father to be proud of me, because with him in my life, there's something to live and strive for.

How I live my faith

When I was in my singles ward in college, I was called as a Family Home Evening Coordinator. I also got a planning buddy, so that made it easier. We switched off planning acitivites with other coordinators, but the activity that I planned was awesome! It was a halloween party, and we played games, bobbed for apples, played musical chairs, and had a great time. I was able to get closer to some of the people in my ward because of this calling. It really was a blessing to me, and I know it will help me in future callings I may receive.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Abby Mattinson
The second great commandment of God is to love thy neighbor as thyself. We are taught at a young age to help those in need in every way that we can. Mormons believe in service and it's a very large part of our religion. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Abby Mattinson
A testimony is a personal witness of your beliefs. It defines us as a Latter-day Saint. When we bear our testimony we allow the spirit to enter into our lives and those around us. It's a very powerful tool. Show more Show less
