Hi I'm Garrett

I'm from Mesa, Arizona and I have been called to serve in the Brazil, Natal mission and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Garrett and I have recently been called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I graduated from high school in May of 2014 and did a year of school at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. So far I have no declared a major, but I am leaning towards either mechanical engineering or some form of finance. I love playing basketball and baseball and I am very competitive. I love my family and love doing fun things with them such as family dinner or going to a movie with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I originally became a Mormon because that is what my parents raised me to be. My father was 18 years old when he was baptized by one of his best friends from high school. After that, he served a mission for this church and met my mother and have been married happily for over 20 years. But, I could only ride along on the testimony of my parents for so long. I slid by through the system for quite some time, not knowing for sure if it was true but wanting it to be true. When my grandfather died my senior year of high school is when I knew without a doubt that this church and this gospel is the church of Christ and that it is the most true gospel on this earth. I was very close to my grandfather, and when he died I was heartbroken. However, this experience gave my grandmother the opportunity to display her faith in a way that was extremely powerful to me. Through her example and testimony, I know that I will see my grandfather again. I know that through the priesthood power that has been restored to this Earth through Joseph Smith, my family has been sealed together for time and all eternity and that I will be able to spend the rest of eternity with the ones that I love. I know that this church is true and that the priesthood has been restored to the earth.

How I live my faith

In my ward while I was away at school, I was in charge of coordinating weekly activities with a small group of young single adults. These activities ranged from fun things like sand volleyball to spiritual things like sharing spiritual experiences and favorite scriptures with one another. However, now that I'm not away at college, I have received a new calling. I have been called to the Brazil, Natal mission and will be spending two years of my time serving and teaching the people of Brazil and I could not be more excited about it. I love this gospel and I can not wait to share the happiness that it brings into my life with all the people that I get to meet.
