Hi I'm Chelsey

I recently graduated with a degree in Art History. I am serving a mission in Rome, Italy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, but I love to explore the world in search of true beauty. I am the youngest and only girl in a family of 7. As a child, I read to explore the beauty of places and people near and far. I am still an avid reader, but now I want to visit the places I read about. I have lived in Visakhapatnam, India; Cambridge, England; and now Italy. No matter where I am in the world there is beauty to be discovered. I am also a seamstress and I design and create clothing that is influenced by the places and beauty I have experienced. I recently graduated with a BA in Art History and was called to serve as a missionary for my church in Rome, Italy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have faith in and a testimony of Jesus Christ and the Atonement. I know that Christ loves me and I want to become like Him, to love as He loves. By becoming a member of His church that has been restored through revelation from God, I know the things that are necessary to become like Him. As I follow the example of Jesus Christ by being baptized and making sacred covenants, or promises, I am filled with His love. This love is constant, healing, peaceful, and full of light. It doesn't mean that life is always easy. Usually it means my heart must be broken in order for me to learn how I can be like Him and to be reminded of His love. Reading scripture, both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, is how I seek comfort as well as answers to questions.

How I live my faith

I do my best to live my faith everyday by searching out the good and finding ways to love people around me. I serve with other young single adults in my church community and was called to work with the women in this group. We learn and serve together as we attend church and other activities. Many of these people have become some of my closest friends. Now, I am choosing to leave my family and friends for the next 18 months as I serve as a missionary in Rome, Italy. I will spend 6 weeks in a Missionary Training Center learning Italian and being trained in teaching methods. Then I will be sent to Italy to love and serve the people there. There are so many unknown things about what my experience as a missionary will be, but I am excited to focus all of my time on living and sharing my faith for a year and a half.
