Hi I'm Becky Hunter

I grew up in the Valleys of the Utah Mountains. I am a writer, sculptor, potter, wife, mother and grandmother (22). I am a Mormon.

About Me

I write, sculpt, sing, watercolor, throw pottery, garden, cook, create and enjoy my family. I have been married 44 years, have 7 children, six living. I have 22 grandchildren 21 living. I am attending attending a university pursuing a degree in fine art, minor in creative writing. It is slow going because I like to travel and usually take the fall semester off to go to the beach with my husband, writers group and grandchildren. I got into the habit of taking just one class per semester when I had to tend some of my grandchildren full time. Now i just like it that way. I have enough credits to graduate, but like the challenge that a class for credit and grade offers. me. Returning to school at my age has its unique features. Often the students think I am the teacher. I usually let them think that for a few minutes. I learn a lot from the students and they let me be one of them for the most part. I love the beach and water in general. I have been a Swimming merit badge counselor for the BSA for 30 years now. My neighbors come each morning in the summer to swim and chat. This has bound us together in a way nothing else has.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints and learned in my youth to love God and to pray . I stay a member of the Church because it is a fantastic way of life and because living the principles of the Gospel has given me confidence that Jesus is truly the Savior, the Redeemer and the way to happiness. I have happiness. This deep joy helps me understand and surmount my sorrows, trials and questions of which I have had many. It is comforting to know that God loves me as an individual and that He hears and answers prayers--my prayers. I cannot imagine not having this knowledge perhaps because I have had it from my youth, but more likely because I have had it to guide me always and bring me back to the purpose of life and the hope of the life to come.

How I live my faith

I have served on our town's government as a member of the Board of Adjustment. I have worked in the schools as a room mother and volunteer art specialist. I volunteered as a child care specialist for the local Women and Children in Crisis Center and served as a mentor and board member for the Care Center Facility near my home where I advocated for residents who cannot speak for themselves. I love to help others and found great joy serving in my friends and church as the president of our women's organization for three years. I have learned that everyone has value and needs and sorrows.
