Hi I'm Whitney Shupe

I live in Blackfoot, Idaho, USA. I have grown up in the gospel and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Whitney, I am 20 years old and have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints my whole life. I grew up in the small town of Blackfoot, Idaho. I am the oldest of 4 siblings, 3 girls and 1 boy. I love the gospel, it has helped me in every part of my life; from school, to family, to my interactions with friends and strangers. I grew up as a Mormon, in a very Mormon community, so I had many great influences that helped me along the way. I never had a "lightbulb" moment where I knew the gospel was true, but as I grew, I found that I had to figure out for myself if the gospel was true and that I believed it enough to follow it. With the help of family, friends, church leaders and the Lord I was able to gain a testimony of my own. I did a lot of reading and prayer and came to love the power of fasting and tithing! I love this gospel with all my heart and soul. I know that Christ came to this earth and atoned for my sins, and the sins of every other person to ever walk this earth. I know he loves me and knows how to help me in every aspect of my life. I know that Joseph Smith talked with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and restored the gospel and that he was a prophet of God. I know that there is a living prophet on the earth today, who guides this church and prepares it's members for when Christ comes again. Christ will comes to the earth again to gather his people. I love this gospel, and I am so grateful for all its many blessings.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not a convert to the church. I have two wonderful parents that were sealed in the temple two years before I was born. They are very strong in the church and they taught me important standards that I have used to build my testimony. My parents are "old fashioned" for this day, they believe we don't need phones or social media to have a fulfilled life. They taught me respect and to stand strong in my beliefs. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church and that Christ lives and loves all of God's children more than anyone can comprehend. I know that Christ was sent here to atone for my sins along with every other individual person on this earth. He knows me and what is best for me; he can and will help me when I am worthy and seek his help. I know the Book of Mormon is true and after reading it and praying with a broken heart and contrite spirit, you will know of its truth also. Amen.

How I live my faith

I am one of the oldest girls in my Young Womans group and it gives me an amazing opportunity to really get to know the girls in my ward and to share with them my testimony of the gospel. I use my faith in every day of my life, in every aspect. It reminds me to be the best I can and to love and be kind to one another.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Whitney Shupe
Having faith in Christ makes a huge impact on how we think and our standards. Christ wants us to be happy and return to him and finding that person who is going to help us get to him through marriage is key. Having a strong family relationship can help lead us down a good path; one that encourages us to search for the truth. Friends are a huge influence, especially right now in my life when I am still finding myself; Christ shows me the characteristics of a good friend and I seek to be that friend and to find that friend. What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Whitney Shupe
There are so many things that tell me there is a God. From the smallest organism to towering mountains, everything is unique and special and serves a purpose. This world is so beautiful and created perfectly for life to flourish, to me that just could not come by chance! When I look out my window at home I see a vast terrain of lava flows made many years ago; they are now covered with sagebrush, juniper trees and a multitude of mosses and grasses. Just a few miles away, the rocky flows give way to river bottoms, lined with cottonwood trees. And further still the lava flows and river disappear and flat desert covered in grasses, sagebrush and a few sparse trees can be seen for many miles, with not a drop of water in sight. Looking beyond the dry desert, tall snow covered mountains can be seen. This whole scene tells me there is a God, the way to flows, how each part is placed to support the other. Every little plant, rock and animal are speficily designed and adapted to these environments and I believe there is a reason for it. God created this world for us to live on, to help us in this mortal experience, he created every little thing on this earth to help us. The creation of this world and all the things in it are so advanced and complex I know they could not happen by chance; it was all placed here by a loving Heavenly Father, who gave us this beautiful and life filled place to learn and grow.
