Hi I'm Doug

I'm a retired educator. I enjoy reading & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into the church in the early 1940's. My parents were both LDS & they raised their 5 children, 3 boys & 2 girls, to be the same. I happened to be the oldest child & experienced all the pros & cons of this family position. My schooling through high school was in this small Utah community & being raised in this town we never worried about locking doors. It's not that way today. I attended Weber State University for a short time following high school graduation, then spent 181 days in the army at Fort Ord & Fort Leonard Wood. Following this I filled a mission to Northern England, mainly in Yorkshire. Following the mission I graduated from BYU twice with a B.S. & M.Ed. At this same time I married & became the father of 1 boy & 5 girls. I then taught & administered in the public schools for 35 years in SLC & Jordan School Districts.

Why I am a Mormon

I am convinced that being LDS has helped me be happier, a better parent, as well as a more caring person. I have stayed in close contact with my siblings & still enjoy their association. I know the gospel taught in the church provides a blueprint for living this life & for returning to live with my Heavenly Father. I try to live my beliefs & am so grateful to have 3 of my children in relative close proximity to where I reside.

How I live my faith

I have worked in various positions in the church including: teaching in various capacities, working at the MTC, various bishoprics, Bishop, & my favorite home teacher.
