Hi I'm Elisabeth Currit

I'm a high school senior, runner, book lover, outdoors enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 17 & a senior in high school. I've lived in Texas for the past 11 years & love it! I love spending time with my family & friends & laughing with them. I am very outgoing & love to meet new people and learn new things. I am very adventurous & love hiking and camping--actually, I love pretty much anything that has to do with the outdoors! One of my favorite memories is going for week long camping trips with my family in Great Basin National Park. I am a distance runner & I run track. I volunteer at a local community center where I tutor at-risk minority kids from grades 2-12. I love teaching! A few years ago I also began an organization to collect & donate books to kids in the Philippines, Texas, & Mexico to help improve child literacy & help children gain greater access to books. I love The Lumineers, water fights, ultimate frisbee, mountains, road trips, good books, & skirts that have pockets. I play the piano and sing. I am homeschooled & I love to learn! I especially love science & am thinking about studying astrophysics in college. I plan on attending Brigham Young University & serving a full-time LDS mission after I graduate from high school.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family who loves and is active in the church, so I've grown up reading the scriptures and learning the gospel from my parents. At a young age, I prayed to my Heavenly Father and received a feeling of peace and clarity that was a witness to me that this is Christ's true church. As I have continued to pray, study the scriptures, and do my best to keep God's commandments, I have come to know for myself, through the Holy Ghost, that this church and its teachings are true. I have had great peace and joy in my life as I have done so. I am a Mormon because being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has brought me more joy & happiness than anything else in the world! I know without a doubt that this church is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth. The message of this gospel is one of hope and happiness. I know that we have a living prophet of God on the earth today. The gospel is what gives me a purpose in life. My faith in God is what gets me through the rough times in my life. This church holds the answers to questions about where we came from and what our potential as sons and daughter of God is. It gives us the opportunity to change, repent, and become more like our Savior. The belief that families are eternal and that I can be with my family forever has brought me more happiness than anything else.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ every day, in the small things I do. I try to look for opportunities to serve others that are lonely or need my help in any way. I've learned that as I pray to find opportunities to help others, I will be inspired to know who and how to serve. As I've done this I've felt the love of Jesus Christ and God in my life and I feel closer to Them. As a youth, I get a lot of opportunities to work with the other teenagers in my local congregation. I often get the chance to teach church lessons for girls ages 12-18! I love teaching the gospel to other youth my age and helping to strengthen their faith in Christ. I also help plan and lead many of the church activities, such as dances & service projects, for youth in my area. I've also had opportunities to teach other members of my congregation about how to do family history & help them learn about of their own ancestors. As I do my best to keep God's commandments & follow the example of Jesus Christ, I've felt great happiness & peace.
