Hi I'm Jonathan L Clark

I have gown up in the church and later went to BYU Idaho and got my degree in Computer Engineering and became a firmware engineer.

About Me

I am a Firmware Engineer by profession. This means that each day I go to work and I develop embedded software applications. My job and it's description are complicated so I will try to define it a little better. An embedded device is a computer that performs only one or a few functions. An example of this would be a thermostat in your house. It has a small software program on it that periodically checks the temperature in the room and turns the heat on or off depending on what that temperature is. I write software for similar devices. Sometimes this type of software is called firmware. In addition to my job I do a lot of personal projects on my own as well; building electronic devices from scratch and writing firmware that goes on them. I also enjoy mountain biking, I don't do anything too crazy but mountain biking is the one sport I really enjoy. The most important person in my life is my wife. I love her. She has changed my outlook on the gospel and on life. She has helped me find balance in my life. Soon my wife and I will have a new family member join us and I hope some day to teach him the gospel as well as engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints because I have seen the blessings that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ brings to my life and to my family. Although I have seen miracles in my life and have had many things happen that could not have happened without help from God, my true belief is because I see the small blessings I receive each day. Each morning I wake up, pray and read my scriptures before tackling my day. As I go through my day I see little things that the Lord does for me. Some days he helps me stay calm when trying to solve a hard problem, other days he helps me find solutions to financial or other problems. While few days I have are easy, even with God's help, each day provides opportunities for learning and growth.

How I live my faith

As a member of the church I am highly active in providing service for others. I do this through home teaching but I also enjoy using my skills to help anyone in need. I like to help people fix their computers and other electronic devices. I also enjoy educating people about the amazing tool that computers are. Periodically I am given the opportunity to speak in church. This is a great blessing to me. I enjoy teaching others about the gospel and sharing my insights with them. I gain these insights through prayerful study of the Book of Mormon and the Bible. Both books together stand as a testimony that Jesus Christ is the savior of mankind. There are many other books that I study and read but it is those two that have had the greatest impact on my life. I feel strongly that it is critical to have a knowledge of the scriptures. Not only and understanding of the doctrines presented in those sacred records but of the history and stories; the context by which those doctrines were given. I have had many opportunities to serve in my life. About ten years ago I served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. During that mission my gospel knowledge flourished. I was able to teach others about the gospel and provide service. I did that full-time for two years; my entire life was devoted to my mission. I did not watch TV, play video games or do anything but study and preach his gospel. To this day, I still enjoy the blessings I received by serving my mission.
