Hi I'm Lavinia

I'm a busy mother of eight, a pampered wife, and in my spare time, an artist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a landscape painter and a passionate gardener, but first and foremost a mother. In fact, I think of my home more in terms of a "studio" or "greenhouse" - a place where young beginnings are nurtured and encouraged to blossom. I am learning more and more to value and cherish the ebb and flow of times and seasons. Many of my artistic endeavors have slowed to a small trickle, but I would not trade being a stay at home mother for anything. As my children grow, they now range from 14 down to 1, I get to watch their talents and abilities unfold.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel God's love for me when I participate fully in this gospel. Living the gospel gives me hope and direction in life. I grew up with loving parents who were also Mormons. My faith was framed by theirs but as a mother myself I see blessings that come from keeping covenants made with God. I feel the Holy Spirit speak to my heart, guiding me in my life. That feeling is usually one of peace and clarity.

How I live my faith

Currently I have the privilege of teaching the very first official class in our church for children ranging from 18 months through 3 years. We play together, sing together, and learn the basics about Heavenly Father's love for all his children.
