Hi I'm Dan Kelly

After 4 years in the army, Darlene and I moved back to my home, Springfield Kentucky, to raise our 5 children and we are Mormons.

About Me

When Darlene and I were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Washington D.C. Temple we were told: "May you have a long life of happiness together and joy in your posterity". We are now enjoying that blessing with our wonderful children, daughters and son in law and 13 beautiful grandchildren. The influence of the gospel of Jesus Christ on our family has added immeasurably to that joy. We are forever grateful to the missionaries and friends who introduced us to the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and invited us to come unto Christ and learn of His ways in order to receive these blessings we are enjoying now.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because friends and missionaries taught me about the restored gospel and it's teachings and principles and it all seemed true to me. When I accepted the invitation to be baptized I acted on those feelings and took a leap of faith. At my baptism I experienced in a way to sacred to describe, the reality of the redeeming power of Christ's Atonement and the literal rebirth that comes from baptism when performed with priesthood authority. Since that time, as I have strived to use that same priesthood authority and responsibility to serveThe Lord by serving His children as a priesthood holder in the Church, my faith has been continually strengthened and affirmed by the sweet confirmation of the Holy Spirit.

How I live my faith

As I began my career first as an officer in the Army and later as an attorney and then as a public official as a State Senator and a Judge, there was always a curiosity about my faith. In the military the fact that I didn't smoke, drink or cuss was an oddity. When I was elected to the Senate, the press didn't know what to make of it. However, the influence of the Gospel teachings in my life always seemed to play a role in any successes I enjoyed.
