Hi I'm Bob

I grew up in Ohio. My dream took me to California, where I studied Photography even better then that, I learned about Mormon's!

About Me

I always wanted to be a photographer since 8th grade, when I purchased my first camera with my newspaper route earnings. I also loved woodworking. After marrying my high school sweetheart after high school at the young age of 19, we journeyed cross country to Santa Barbara, California to study at the Brooks Institute of Photographic Arts and Sciences where I received my Bachelor's degree in Portraiture. For me, more importantly I discovered the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness! During this time I also was offered a job for Deborah and I to manage an apartment complex where I learned remodeling and "home fix up". All three of these have now played an important role in my life. We recently retired after 31 years of owning a photography studio, I still manage a small remodeling co. and we have received an opportunity to serve on a mission to the Nauvoo Temple this spring.

Why I am a Mormon

After 35 years as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the time I have been working in the Temple in Columbus, Ohio is the one I cherish most. This is the reason I wanted to learn more about the "Mormon" faith. When I was getting married I had the distinct impression that I was not to use the phrase "till death do you part" in our marriage ceremony. I knew that was not right. To my pleasure a few years later I met my first Mormon and during that friendship in college I learned about "Eternal Marriage". From there other questions I had had about the nature of God as only a Spirit and all three as one were dispelled as we studied and learned that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father are two distinct personages. The best part I was never pressured into taking there word for it, I was guided to "ask in faith nothing wavering" as James speaks of in the New Testament. It was after much prayer that I knew what I was studying about was the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Over the years my faith has grown like a garden. Times of extreme growth and other times I have had the opportunity to serve in callings that did not require a lot of stretching of body and spirit. Serving as a scoutmaster for 5 years was the hardest job I ever did because growing up I never was a scout. It was a huge learning curve working and coordinating all that went on with 30+ boys in the troop at the time. Even then how I was touched in ways to help boys out by the Spirit is one though I would never want to change. Those promptings that helped me to know what to say or do were wonderful. But, overall the opportunities I have had to serve helping people move, roof a home of a widow, fix leaky pipes to digging by hand with a bunch of brothers a 5' deep 60' long trench to waterproof a home would never want to be traded. I have felt the true love of our Savior in these service projects.
