Hi I'm Randy Jule Christiansen

I'm a corporate attorney with an amazing wife and six daughters. I love skiing Utah mountains and being with friends and family.

About Me

Although I grew up in Utah I always imagined I'd end up somewhere else. I stayed because our first child was born with a terminal illness and we wanted to be close to family. These things affected my decision to attend college at BYU for both undergrad and graduate school. I am an attorney and represent several corporations. Our oldest daughter lived nearly sixteen miracle filled years to the amazement of every doctor she ever met. I have five other daughters, the fifth has down syndrome. I love spending time with family and many great friends. Outside of this I love skiing, fine art, travel and good restaurants.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in an LDS home and among many members of the same faith I didn't come to my own conviction of the truthfulness of the Church until I read the Book of Mormon. That conviction didn't come simply from reading, it came from thinking and seriously considering whether a man, any man, could write a book like this. I believed in God and I believed that He had a plan for the human family. I then committed to pray to know whether the Book of Mormon was true. Because I found answers to some of the most significant questions I had ever wondered about in the Book of Mormon, I knew that if it was true then it naturally followed that God had prophets upon the earth and that the Church that Christ organized was also on the earth. The more I studied it and the more I prayed the more I knew it was the word of God given to man, just as it is in the Bible. By living the teachings of Christ revealed both anciently and in our day I have experienced the greatest fulfillment and happiness of my life. I feel there is purpose in living and helping others. I know that families are intended to help each other throughout this life and into the eternities. I also know that we are all part of the family of God, our Heavenly Father and that His son Jesus Christ came upon the earth and ministered to others to demonstrate the way we should minister to one another. I love Christ and know that every good thing comes through His grace. I also know that He expects me to do something useful with the knowledge He has given.

How I live my faith

I know that every good thing that has come into my life is a gift from a loving Father in Heaven. Because of this knowledge I am determined to give back something to my community and to my faith. In the Church I work with young men and young women from three congregations. My wife and I help them plan activities that are fun and meaningful to work, serve and play together. I have served on many volunteer non-profit committees and boards, as well as neighborhood, city and county commissions and boards. The most fulfilling things I have ever done have been within my own family. I believe in Christ and I know that He lives and is interested in us. I know that I am serving him when I am serving others. I am now preparing to work with others from our Church to share his message with all who will listen. In doing this my wife and I will supervise missionaries in Maryland as a mission president for the next three years. I know that Christ will return to this earth again and that sharing his gospel and the ordinances that He instructed us to receive by his authority will prepare the world for the day he does come. Knowing that Jesus Christ is interested in someone as common as me assures me that He is just as interested in every other person on this earth. He wants us to be happy and he has given us his pattern for happiness and that is what I hope to share with others.
