Hi I'm Skyler Bauer

I am from Orem Utah, I love the beautiful mountains there. I love riding my fixed gear bicycle and skateboard and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 23 years old. I love riding and working on bicycles! I love being outside, I love trying new things and I love listening to music, or attempting to play music on a guitar. I love learning from the experiences that I have had and I know that I am the person I am because of those experiences and especially because of my family, they have influenced my life in such an amazing and incredible way and I am so grateful for them. I have a passion for riding my fixed gear road bike out on the busy roads and trying to stay alive while doing it. I seriously love bikes, if I see a bike on the side of the road or a bike shop or a cyclist riding on the road I always have to look at there bike and I cant help but admire their bike. I'm kind of a action junkie so I really love to skateboard and I like to think that I am good at it ha. I don't really do any street style skateboarding (I can, but its not my favorite because I usually really hurt myself), I really love to cruise through a half pipe or pump through a bowl its really relaxing for me and a lot of fun. I love to be outdoors, whether it be in the back country backpacking or climbing or out on the river fishing, being close to nature and God with my family and friends. I love my family, they mean everything to me! I love to cook as well, one day I want to have my own food truck and drive up and down the west coast going from city to city, meeting new people, biking in every town I go through and shred the gnar on a skateboard.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (or Mormons, if you will). But I didn't always believe it was the true church. So because my family is Mormon when I was young and going through school I would go to church every Sunday drudgingly, because I thought it was boring and I didn't understand why I was there. But I am grateful I went to church even if I really didn't have the desire to, because the church taught me so much and helped me have good habits and good values. But after I graduated High School I stopped going to church and I fell into a trap of bad habits. My life got considerably harder and less happy. So after two years or so of not being active and not living the gospel, I decided to change my life and to come back to what I was missing in my life. The process was incredibly hard and I never would have been able to do it if it wasn't for my Saviour Jesus Christ and His sacrifice, that we know as the Atonement. Because of Him, because He came to this earth to teach us and guide us and to take upon Him the sins of the world and to overcome death, I am here and I am happy and even tho things get hard and things happen in life that upset me or hurt me or disappoint me I know that through our Saviour we can be made whole and those trials or burdens in our lives can be made light. I was able to gain a testimony of this church and the truthfulness of it through my trials and hardships I faced and because of this I know that our Saviour lives and that He loves me and everyone who has lived, is living or will live and He wants us to be happy and He has given us a way back to Him and that is through His gospel and through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that this is the true church on the face of the earth and that our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ is at the head of it. I am so grateful for this church and all the many blessings that I have because of it.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving a mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in the Edmonton Canada Mission and I am actually speaking Spanish in this mission. As a missionary I have the privilege and the opportunity to bring Heavenly Fathers love and plan for us to people that may have not felt that or are looking for that. I really love being on a mission, it is really hard but it is so rewarding. So when serving a mission (as a male from age 18-25 you give 2 years to serve in a specific area that you are chosen to serve and as a female from 19+ you give 18 months of your time to the lord to serve) you leave your families and school and jobs and your daily life to serve others and help bring them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So everyday you live your faith, everyday you wake up and put on your missionary tag and take on the name of Christ, meaning you try your hardest to live as Christ would and serve as He would, obviously I am not perfect and nobody is but that is the amazing thing about this gospel is that we have 1000+ opportunities to be better and to change. And that is one of the reasons why I love being a missionary is to help people change and come closer to Christ, it is a truly amazing and spiritual experience.
