Hi I'm Barbara

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Brazil.

About Me

I am the mother of 5 children and the Grandmother of 8. I have lived in Brazil for almost 10 years and Portuguese is my second language. I majored in Portuguese and art in college and have a degree in Art from BYU. I like to paint, sew, crochet, knit, read and spend time with my grandchildren. I love to try different creative arts. I also love languages and have studied several aside from English and Portuguese. I love my country (USA) but I also love Brasil, especially the music. My husband and I have traveled widely through Europe and South America and love to learn about new places and peoples. I love my children, who are now all grown and love to spend time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that has been members of the LDS Church for about 150 years. Some of my ancestors participated in the Mormon Wagon trains that crossed the plains in the 1840s. However, the reason I have stayed in the Church is because I have a testimony that God did reveal himself to Joseph Smith when he prayed in the grove of trees. I know that God lives and that Jesus loves all of his children and wants us all to be happy by following His path. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God recorded by ancient prophets and brought forth to us in the latter days to help us know what we truly have to do to return to live with our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have served 2 senior missions and are leaving soon on another mission to Atlanta. In our town we are the Family History Indexing coordinators and enjoy teaching people around us about Family History and about how to help others find their families by indexing for Family Search.org. I visit 2 sisters in the ward every month and have created many dear friends through fulfilling this calling throughout my life. Most of my life I have served as a teacher for the ladies auxiliary of our church and as a librarian. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
