Hi I'm Candice Buttars

I grew up in Northern Utah, I'm preparing to serve a mission in Redlands California, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love soccer, painting nails, snowboarding, and anything crafty. I just finished up my first semester of college, and am now preparing to serve a full time mission. I am tentatively planning to major in interior design, but that might change in the next 18 months. And, most importantly, I love to have fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this religion. I grew up surrounded by neighbors and family members who were also Mormon. I always felt good about the gospel, but I don't think I gained my own testimony of it until I was a little older. When I was 14 I had my first seminary class. Seminary is a daily LDS religious class for youth ages 14-18. It was during my first year of seminary that I began reading the scriptures daily, and I wanted to learn for myself if this was the true church. As Jesus declared in Matthew 7:7,"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" I prayed to Heavenly Father asking him if this was true, and the Holy Ghost testified to me that it is true. Seminary was just the start of my testimony because for me it wasn't just one time and I knew. My testimony has come gradually, "line upon line; here a little and there a little," as stated in Isiah 28:10. Through different experiences and trials I have been able to come to know more and more of the surety of this gospel. I know this is the true church restored to the earth through Joseph Smith. I know Heavenly Father lives, and we are his children. He loves us all and wants us to return to him. This gospel is the way to true and lasting happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my weekly Sunday meetings. I most recently have had a calling to teach a Sunday school class. In just a few weeks I will begin serving as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I strive to incorporate my faith into all aspects of my life.
