Hi I'm Darren Chambers

I grew up in Virginia. I love to help others and doing service projects for anyone in need. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have always loved playing, Listening to and conducting music. Anything from Jazz, to Classical, Pop and Country, I can feel at peace when I listen and perform. Music has always been my hobby. Now, however, I am taking up drawing and art as a way to escape and I love it. I am not a great artist or painter but I wish to become better. Right now I am looking at colleges and my future is unsure after my mission. I have so many things I want to do. I wish I could do them all. I want to go into Cosmology, music, Physics, Writing, Math, Engineering, Medical training and so forth. I think the best thing I have done service wise is when I helped with Hurricane Sandy. I joined the Mormon Helping hands for three days and dedicated myself t serving and helping others. This was an Experience that I will never forget. How people were so grateful and how I felt knowing that I made someones life a little better that day. I am an Eagle scout. Getting this award was very difficult to do and stressful, but well worth it. I loved being a Boy Scout and I am so proud to receive the award of an Eagle. My Eagle Project was to help a family clear out this ancient graveyard and to restore it for the family's whose ancestors are buried within. This was received with much gratitude and i am glad I was able to help out and restore the historic cemetery.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and at first this was the only reason why I really believed. I felt the spirit and liked church but it was mainly because I was born into a very religious family and thus I had little testimony and belief for myself. This changed slowly as I began to pray and read the scriptures. To find if this is true and to find truth in general. I have doubted many times and in one particular instance I was unsure if this was the true church. I never doubted Jesus Christ or that there was a God but if this was God's Church on earth. I fell away from reading and praying for a while. But then I started again. I prayed and I read and I listened to the spirit. To know if this was the truth. Is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) his church. Or what then if it is not. Where should I go and what should I do to come closer to God and Jesus Christ. Through prayer and faith I began to be happier as i read and prayed about the Book of Mormon and the church as a whole. I prayed as a child would. With purity and trying to learn what God would have me do. I read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. My answer came gradually as my pain and almost fear of uncertainty disappeared and was replaced with joy and happiness. I believe and I know that through God that my prayers were answered and that if go to God with an open mind and spirit to hear what he wants and how we can come closer to him. He will answer and love us for our sincerity. This is partially why I am a Mormon. I believe God answered my prayers and I will keep asking and praying to him for more Guidance in my life.

How I live my faith

I live by doing what is right and always serving others. I will go, as a home teacher, to peoples homes and talk with them about how they are doing and if they need help. I am always willing to go and serve and help those who are in need. This is a major way that I live my Faith. By being like Christ and trying to become selfless and helpful towards all. I pray and read the scriptures to understand what God wants from me and how I can more fully understand his will and Gospel.
