Hi I'm Shannon

I grew up in Fort McMurray, Alberta. I'm the middle of three children. I love to dance and meet new people. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm 20 years old and a middle child of 3. My favourite thing to do is dance! I think you can dance anytime and anywhere. I'm studying child studies at university but right now I'm taking a break from school to serve a mission. Hopefully one day I will be able to help at risk youth get back on the right track so they can have a brighter future.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a convert and so I've been asked this question many times and I have given many different reasons! One reason is that I love how much the church emphasized how important families are. The church gives us a way to shape our family around Christ and become a strong family unit through him. Another reason why I decided to get baptized was because I saw the other members of the church. They were good, happy people and I wanted to be like them. I know from living this gospel now and being a part of this church that if we live the teachings of the Lord and are obedient to the commandments that we can be good, happy people as well. I have never been so happy in my life then I am right now as I constantly draw closer to the Lord. I could keep going on with different reasons but the main reason that I'm a Mormon is because the Holy Ghost has testified to me that this church is true! Once I got that confirmation that there was a God who loved me and he wanted me to join the church, how could I not?! I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that through him the Church of Jesus-Christ was restored to the earth. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who knows me and loves me. I know that Jesus-Christ lives and that through him our sins can be forgiven and one day we can return to live with Him and our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

First off I live my faith by teaching the primary kids in my ward. There is nothing better then getting to spend a couple hours each week teaching young children about their Father in Heaven. They have so much energy and are so eager to learn! I also try to live my faith by being an example of Christ to those around me. Wherever I go and whatever I'm doing, I try to think of what Christ would do and be like him. I

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The prophet today is President Thomas S. Monson! I love our prophet so much! It is such a blessing to have his council to guide me in my day to day life. President Monson also has two councillors who assist him. Their names are President Henry B. Eyring and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. Those 3 along with 12 apostles build up the leadership of the Church. Show more Show less
