Hi I'm Heather

I was born in Utah and am growing up in Texas! I love to read and write fiction. Most importantly, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student in high school. I have mild Asperger's Syndrome and OCD. I love to read science fiction and historical fiction novels, and I am dabbling in writing science fiction.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger, I told my aunt that I wasn't sure if I'd stay in the Church and that I might change to be a Buddhist. Before leaving though (and it wasn't that I didn't like the Church; I just wanted to find the truth), I waited so I could learn about the Church. One fast Sunday, my brother bore his testimony and said that we shouldn't "take people's word for it," because once the person whose word you are taking for it leaves, what you thought as your testimony will fall apart. You have to find out for yourself. He concluded with, "Don't take my word for it." For awhile, I took his word for it, but his testimony got me thinking. As the years went on, I continued learning about the Church. I don't remember the entire journey exactly, but today I have a testimony that God is real. He lives. He loves us and watches over us, and he is there and is willing to give us comfort and help, especially in times of need. I have experienced too much to say that God is not real. I know for a FACT that He lives. I'd be willing to bet a billion dollars on it, if the prophets didn't tell us not to gamble or make bets with money. I have heard His voice, and He has saved me multiple times from events that would have been overwhelmingly traumatic. I know also that Heavenly Father answers prayers. Never have I asked a sincere question in prayer and not gotten the answer. I know He lives. I also know that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God, and so is the Holy Bible as far as it is translated correctly. The Pearl of Great Price and the Doctrine and Covenants also contain God's Word. I still have much to gain a testimony on, but of the most important thing, I have a very strong testimony. I know God lives and that he loves each and every one of us, even those who do not obey His word. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and for that to be so, the Church also must be true. But don't take my word for it. Come and see!

How I live my faith

Every weekday morning, I go to what is called Early Morning Seminary. It is a scripture study class for the high school students in the Church, but you don't have to be in the Church to come. Everyone is welcome to come and see!! I go to church for 3 hours every Sunday with my family (unless I am sick, etc.). There, we study certain topics depending on the theme for the month. During the first hour of church, we take the sacrament and listen to talks (sermons prepared by normal members of the Church). We sing songs of worship for God. It is hard not to feel the Spirit there. Also, almost every Wednesday, I participate in youth group activities. At youth group, we do lots of fun things like sports, arts and crafts, and service projects. Everyone is welcome! At night I normally read the scriptures, even if I only read half of a chapter or a page or two, though normally I get really interested and into it and end up reading an entire chapter or two. Before anyone in my family goes to bed, we say a family prayer together.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Heather
Yes and yes!!! Worthy members of God's Church can be sealed for time and eternity to another worthy member of the Church in the temple, so they will be able to be together forever, even after death. Families will live together in heaven just like they do here on Earth! Show more Show less
