Hi I'm Debbie

I live in Idaho and along with my husband, have raised seven children. I love life and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I enjoy reading historical novels, crocheting, doing family history work, canning from the beautiful garden my husband grows and working in our flower beds. And I love having my grandchildren over and going to their activities. I also have been blessed to have an eternal family and find it has been my greatest challenge to love them and teach them as we have been asked to do, with patience and kindness. I graduated many years ago from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in education and taught first grade for a couple of years before being married and then becoming a mother and raising seven children. I found great satisfaction in teaching and even more in teaching my own children and teaching in various organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints a little over 45 years ago. After a visit to Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah my Mom filled out a card saying she was interested in learning more about the Church. Not long after that, the missionaries came to our home (I was in my late teens at the time) and started teaching us about the church. It brought me peace to know the answers to questions, such as what is the purpose of this life, or why do we have so many challenges? I also learned about Heavenly Father and my Savior...that they are separate beings, divine and loving who want us back in their presence again. I have been blessed to learn Gospel Teachings that have blessed my life. I was also blessed to marry in the Temple where my husband and I received eternal covenants that make it possible for us, along with our children to be an eternal family. By serving in various callings (such as Sunday School teacher) I have increased my Faith in my Savior and know that He died that I may be resurrected, if I am willing to repent and believe in Jesus Christ. I know that there is a living prophet on this earth to lead and direct the Savior's Church. I also know that the Bible and Book of Mormon go hand in hand in teaching us what we need to know on this earth to return to our Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for the restored Church and the content I feel knowing that I can be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

My husband and I are serving a Church Education System Mission for 23 months in Charlottrsville, Virginia where we have the opportunity to teach classes to young adults on the UVa and PVCC campuses. We also attend Church with young adults in the area. We are learning so much from our studies of what we are teaching and from the young adults. We are part of the Virginia Richmond Mission. We miss home, but have found it a great blessing to be able to visit with grandchildren through modern technology. Prior to coming on our mission I served as a Ward Historian, where I gathered the history each year and took pictures at various activities and of members of our congregation and made a notebook each year to represent our congregation's growth and happenings. I also have served as a Visiting Teacher for over 40 years, where I visit 4 - 5 ladies each month to give them an uplifting message and to see if they have any concerns I might help them with. I have met many wonderful women that way and have been blessed to serve them, as I have been served by others with assignments to visit me. It is a wonderful program that helps us take care of each other. I have learned so much by serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where I have had opportunity to lead, teach and speak in different settings and with different age groups.
