Hi I'm Gayle

I was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am a single mother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was married in the Salt Lake temple, had two children and divorced after 4 1/2 years. I had to go back to work and was a single mom. As a single mom and working full time, I still developed many skills and talents to take care of my family and learned to be self reliant. I sewed most of the clothes that we wore, had a small garden, did canning and enjoyed many different kinds of crafts to give as gifts and also to sell to make extra money. I love to cook. Some of my hobbies and interests are crocheting, ceramics, wood projects and other miscellaneous crafts. I love to scrapbook and have made several scrapbooks for loved ones of their life histories. I quilt and love to do family history. I am now a grandmother and enjoy doing things with my family. I love going to the temple and reading the scriptures. I have served in all the auxiliaries of the church (excepts priesthood) in many different positions. When I worked I held many positions. I began as a keypunch operator then was a secretary where I also learned other office skills. Then I was an office manager and went back to school and received my associate degree in credit management where I was a credit manager the last 20 years of my career. I was able to retire two years ago and am thrilled at the opportunity I now have to be able to serve a full time mission.

Why I am a Mormon

When I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and obey the commandments and do the things the Lord has asked me to do, I feel such peace and contentment. When I watch my family as they progress in the church, accepting callings and watching the children and they get baptized and watch their advancements in the church, it brings such joy to my heart. I have been brought up in the church but as I go through life and experience trials, disappointments then see the good that happens if I just hold on to the faith and keep working on the things that I may not have been very good at doing, the Lord blesses my life and I do see the rewards of staying faithful and enduring to the end. We all slip and get lazy at doing some of the things that we know we should be doing but it is important to remember that the Lord does care about me and wants to bless me but I need to do my part as well and keep my commitment to him and do the things that I promised to do.

How I live my faith

Currently I have been called to be the ward Emergency Preparedness Specialist. I have been working with the city I reside in and have been helping the people in my area to prepare for any emergency that might arise. I have offered group specials for them to sign up to purchase and then I collect their money, get the product for them and distribute it. I have a program in place to help them to get the items they may need for 72 hour packs, short term food storage and long term food storage. This has helped a lot of families that did not know where to begin. I am also a visiting teacher where I go out once a month with a partner to check on the welfare of the sisters in our ward area and to leave them a spiritual message. We have made great friendships with these visits which bless the lives of the sisters as well as ourselves. We try to make sure the sisters feel free to give us a call if there are needs that come up in between our visits.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is actually a law of health. The Lord wants us to be healthy and strong to live our days here on the earth so that we can learn and perform all the duties that He has in store for us. There are some illnesses that can be prevented or dealt with better if we can keep our bodies strong and healthy. When we have a sound body it helps us to have a sound mind as well. If we take anything into our bodies that our bodies get addicted to then we end up creating weaknesses in our body. God promises great physical and spiritual blessings to those who follow the Word of Wisdom. The scientists of today are finding some of the bad effects on our bodies using these harmful things that was told to Joseph Smith a long time ago. Show more Show less
