Hi I'm Charles

I grew up in Washington state. I am currently serving a mission in Spain. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Since I was a kid I have always liked to play basketball, draw, write and enjoy spending time with friends and family. I have spent most of my life living in Washington State in the town of Battle Ground. Other things that I like to do are to hike and enjoy the nature of the Great Northwest. I am currently on a mission in Spain. As much as I like spending time with friends and family, right now I am sharing the Gospel with other friends and their families here in Spain. The mission has brought me a lot of joy in my life. Being able to spread this Gospel, that has blessed my life so much, it is the best. Sharing my joy with others just brings me more joy. What a wonderful thing the Gospel is.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and I have always gone to church. I did it just because it is what my family did, but then when I was 10 years old I had a life changing experience. There was a death in the family, someone really close to me. As a 10 year old boy I was able to turn to the scriptures for consolation and then pray to my Father in Heaven. I received an answer from God that day, that changed my life forever. I knew that I would be able to see my family again in Heaven after this life through the Gospel. From that point on, I knew that this church is true. And that only through this church and the fullness of the Gospel that it contains can I return to Heavenly Father and my family after this life. I am so happy to be part of this church. I am happy to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently on a mission for the LDS church in Spain. Studying the Gospel and learning all I can from it and then being able to share my knowledge of the Gospel with others is the best way I know how to live my faith. As the the Lord Jesus Christ said "Freely ye have received, freely give." I have felt so blessed to have received the Gospel and grown up learning about Christ, now I am able to give to others the opportunity to learn about the the Savior and His Gospel also.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Charles
Our primary family worship service is called sacrament meeting. Visitors are allowed to this meeting and are encouraged to come. This is a family service so it is fine to bring children. At this service we usually sing hymns and listen to two or three different assigned speakers. The most important part of the service is when we partake of the sacrament, the bread and water that has been blessed and represents Christ and all that he did for us. This the most important part of the Sunday services because it reminds us of Jesus Christ and helps spiritually nourish us. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Charles
We are baptized into the church because baptism is the first step and first covenant we make to follow Christ. Jesus Christ is our perfect example and just as he was baptized by immersion, so must we be baptized by immersion. This baptism symbolizes a rebirth, when we are baptized all sins from our past life are forgiven and we make a promise with God that we are going to follow him and keep his commandments from that point on. How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Charles
Missionaries are young members of the church that go out and spread the Gospel in different parts of the world for normally 18 to 24 months. Before their mission, missionaries usually work and pay for all the expenses of there mission. That is how important this Gospel is to the missionaries, they work and pay for their own mission just so they can have the opportunity to share the Gospel with others. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Charles
The Book of Mormon is another witness of Jesus Christ. It is another witness that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He is our Savior. The Book of Mormon is a collection of writings from ancient prophets that lived on the American continent in Ancient times. The Book of Mormon is named after one of those ancient prophets. The Book of Mormon contains many revelations and teachings from God. One of the most important parts in the Book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ appears to the Ancient inhabitants of America after His Resurrection. The Book of Mormon supports the Bible and together with the Bible contain the fulness of the Gospel. The Book of Mormon concludes with a promise that all those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true. I know that this is true. I have done it myself. I have read it and prayed about it and have received an answer from God. I encourage everyone to read it and pray about it and I promise you that you will get an answer from God. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Charles
The Bible is a record of Jesus Christ and His teachings and the things He did for us. Mormons believe in Jesus Christ and are greatful for what he did, especially His Atonement. The Bible also tells of the establishment of Christ´s church when he was still on the earth. These things are important because the Mormon church is really Christ´s church restored to the earth in these latter days. Simply, Mormons, like me, believe in Christ and worship Him and live His teaching. Most of Christ´s life and teachings are recorded in the Bible. Christ is our ultimate and perfect example, therefore we study the Bible so we are able to follow His example and live His teachings. I love Christ and so I want to know all I can about Him and follow Him. The Bible is an important tool in that purpose. Show more Show less
