Hi I'm Kayla

I grew up between Utah in the United States and a small island in the country of Samoa! I'm a Mormon!!

About Me

I currently attend university here in the United States. I love anything that has to do with the ocean and water in general!! I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and look forward to sharing that gospel with others! I especially love answering questions and finding the answers to those questions when I, myself, don't know them (especially when those questions are about my faith and beliefs)! I love people and cultures and love getting to know people and where they come from, everyone has a story and I am an avid story seeker!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which is where my testimony started growing. When we moved around to another country, however, I didn't have access to the Church. I started attending another Christian church but always felt like something was missing, like I was missing a key part of my life. I had a great life, but it just felt like there was no direction, or at times, like I didn't have a purpose. I didn't know where I came from, where I was going, I was living in the moment but even they had no real meaning. When I came back for a season to help my grandparents, I was reintroduced to the Church at it was my true homecoming! I learned where I came from, where I was striving to go, and what resources I had to help me get there! My love for the gospel does not come from constant recitation and boring lectures I'm 'mandated' to attend... It comes from constant conversion, daily seeking, and prayerful guidance which helps me find what I am to do and where I am supposed to be going. I love knowing that I can be a hand in His plan by helping others on their way. I love knowing that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I love being a Mormon!!

How I live my faith

I participate in my ward through choir participation and love singing! I also get to visit teach another member of our ward which basically means I get to share a message from the gospel and get to become really great friends with them! It's awesome to be able to serve other people because you get to learn things about them and yourself that you otherwise couldn't have come upon.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Kayla
Heavenly Father knew we would be imperfect and because no filthy thing can live in the presence of God, He knew that we would need a way to get back to Him and to make up for our sins. Jesus Christ was sent as Heavenly Father's only Begotten Son to atone (or make up) for our sins. If you think about trying to get to a cliff-side from another cliff and the only way to get there is across a bridge; on this bridge you can only go so far and the rest of the bridge is missing. This illustrates our life with all that we can do, given our sins. Jesus Christ, because of His Atonement, forges the rest of that bridge and we are able to make it back to Heavenly Father! We need the Savior, Jesus Christ, because His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane allows us to be forgiven when we sincerely repent and turn to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
