Hi I'm Marissa

Born and raised in Portland. Serving a mission in Japan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! My name is Marissa and I am currently serving a mission in the Tokyo, Japan mission. I'm an adrenaline junkie with a mile long bucket list. I live to travel and I believe in learning something new every day. Music and dancing has my heart but I do love sitting down with a good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I came to know of the truthfulness of this gospel for myself. In high school, I had an incredible seminary teacher who challenged me almost every day to develop my testimony. He taught me the value of following the commandments (even the smallest ones), loving my scriptures, praying sincerely and so many other things. It seems that I've always known that the church was true, but one night I knelt down after finishing the Book of Mormon for the first time. I asked if it was truly another testament of Christ but I didn't get my answer right off the bat. However, a couple days later after I knelt down again, I was enveloped in the comfort and peace that only the Spirit can provide. I know that this church is true and that Joseph Smith is the prophet who translated the Book of Mormon and restored this church. I am so grateful that I can be cleansed of my sins because of Christ's atoning sacrifice of dying for us. If you don't have a testimony of the Gospel, I urge you to read the book and pray to receive your answer. It truly will change your life for the better!

How I live my faith

I live my faith through striving to be the best example I can be. I have chosen to serve a mission for this church because I know that it is true. I hope that by so doing, I can help others learn how to live by faith and come to feel the love that the Savior has for them. I have also served as substitute primary teacher which was an absolute blast!

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a spiritual witness given to you by the Holy Ghost. As a individual begins to strengthen their faith in Christ and the Gospel, their testimony grows. It's important to continue building your testimony by sharing it with those around you. Show more Show less
