Hi I'm Katherine Hanzel

I'm a college student and have been called to the Cape Verde Praia Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an undergraduate student currently majoring in Exercise and Wellness. I like to run and recently ran my first half marathon. I'm a tad OCD, love organization, will always prefer paper to technology, and form over function- always. I enjoy trying new foods, love The Cheesecake Factory and burritos from Cafe Rio, and can always go for dessert. I currently nanny four cute kids and will be sad to leave them to serve a mission, but I know the people of Cape Verde need to gospel and I'm excited to share it with them!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have come to know for myself that this church is true. I have read The Book of Mormon and prayed to know of its truth and received a witness from the Holy Ghost that it is true. I have had too many testimony building moments throughout my years in primary and youth groups and on my own to ever doubt its reality and truthfulness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by accepting and serving in whatever area of the church the Lord needs me to. I have served as a visiting teacher for several years- visiting sisters and making sure their needs are met and they have a friend. I have also served with the little kids in nursery and have played piano (well, attempted to) in primary with the kids. I have been on various committees helping plan youth pioneer treks and youth activities. During my senior year of high school I was part of the seminary/institute council for my high school and helped plan activities and "Sem TV" for students in seminary classes. I have also taught both the gospel doctrine lessons and lessons for the women of the church. Recently I have accepted a call to serve a full-time, 18 month mission to the islands of Cape Verde off the coast of Africa, and I couldn't be more excited!
