Hi I'm Asher

I was born in Colorado Springs, CO. I am a Pararescuemen (PJ) in the United States Air Force. I am a Mormon.

About Me

As a child I grew up in a military household. We moved very couple of years, which meant leaving friends behind, and always being "the new kid." It was also a blessing because I was able to live and travel to some very interesting places most would never see, such as the Azores, Bahrain, Italy, and Germany. Now that I am an adult I have followed in my fathers footsteps and joined the Air Force. After almost three years of intense training and selection schools I became a Pararescuemen (PJ). This job allows me to feed the adrenaline junkie in me because I get to do every "manly" activity you can think of and get paid for it. Skydiving, scuba diving, shoot, and climbing are just a few examples. But the best thing about the job is being able to help others, no matter the situation. I am also a husband and father. I have three great kids who are full of energy and keep us busy, and a wonderful wife who glue's us together.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both members, so I grew up going to church. When I was 20 I really wanted to find out for myself if the church was true. So I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was true. I didn't get an answer at that moment. The next day I went to a meeting. The topic was on the prophet Joseph Smith. During that meeting I received the answer I was asking for. As they discussed the Prophets story and his experience I had the most intense feeling of peace and joy come to me and at that moment I knew he was a true prophet. And because I knew he was a true prophet, I knew that the Book of Mormon which he translated by the gift and power of God was also true, and the church which he was commanded to establish was Christ's church once again on the earth. Our Heavenly Father loves us all. He prepared a way for us to one day return to him. Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins so we can enter our Father's Presence, if we do our part and accept his atonement. Through the scriptures we can learn of what we need to do. President Monson is the prophet called of God now and he continues to teach us what we need to do. I look forward to retuning to my Father in Heaven with my family one day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping the commandments to the best of my abilities, and being the best example I can be. I also serve in the church. I work with the youth of our church. Being able to serve the youth has given me a great opportunity to help the youth in our church to develop their own testimonies of their Savior Jesus Christ and help prepare them for life after high school. I try to help provide them with opportunities to to serve and have uplifting experiences. I do this through teaching them on Sundays as well as being the Venture coach for Boy Scouts. Being able to work with the youth has been a lot of fun. With my background and skills I have learned in the military I have been able to help plan and do some fun activities with them that I wish I had been able to do as a youth.
