Hi I'm Wendy

I grew up in the great state of Idaho. I am married to a wonderful man, have 4 children and 20 grandchildren and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked as a school aide, an insurance customer service rep, a piano teacher, and as an office manager but my favorite occupation is as a wife to a great man, a mom of 4 happily married children (1 boy, and three girls) and a grandmother of 11 granddaughters and 9 grandsons! I love the piano, cooking, gardening and preserving produce and love to grow flowers. I enjoy traveling with my husband and absolutely adore spending time with our large family! It is such a joy to me to see my grandchildren develop their talents and grow into productive, contributing members of society! Interestingly enough, my husband is a 6th generation cowboy and rancher and we spent the first 17 years of our married life on the ranch. Being raised a city girl, it was surprising how quickly I learned to love ranch life! Our kids all learned to ride horses, work cattle, move pipe, brand, and everything else associated with raising cattle. We were living the dream until my husband was injured in a horse accident, had his hip replaced and we very reluctantly left the ranch to pursue a new career. I found we are all stronger than we think we are and can do hard things! The last 25 years have been spent in the city where my husband's new career took us and close to my hometown and parents. I have learned that if we all work together as a team and have faith in a Heavenly Father who loves us, we can "make lemonade" from whatever "lemons" life may bring.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been a Mormon all my life and my testimony of its truthfulness has come over a life-time. I choose to be an active member because it brings me joy and peace even in times of adversity. My husband and I, our children and their spouses, and our grandchildren are all happy active members of the Church. I know that it is through the making and keeping of sacred covenants in the temple that this is all possible. Christ's church, the one He established during his earthly ministry, has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. Priesthood keys, power, and authority have been restored as well as temple worship and covenant-making that allows us, if we are worthy to live together as families in the presence of our Heavenly Father and our Savior in the eternities to come. Baptism into this church is done with priesthood authority and by immersion just as was the Savior's baptism so many years ago. We have a living prophet on the earth again to lead and guide us through the storms of life we face now! I cannot conceive of raising a family in this corrupt world without a prophet's guidance. What a tremendous blessing that has always been. We have apostles on the earth again and all of these things testify to me of a loving Heavenly Father who loves each of His children and never varies from established truths. I LOVE that! It is testimony to me of the truthfulness of this gospel. I also bear testimony of the Book of Mormon brought forth and translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith! I testify that if you will read this book, another testament of Jesus Christ, with a sincere heart and the intent to act upon the feelings you receive, you will very soon know of its truthfulness. I have read this book more than 40 times over the course of my life and each time I read, I realize that if you want to really know the Savior, He is in the pages of this book.

How I live my faith

I love serving and have taught children, youth and adults in various auxiliaries of the Church. I have also served in scouting and as a choir director. My husband and I are currently preparing to serve a mission in Philadelphia, PA. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ and just try in my very human way to obey the commandments they have given us. I try to pray and read the scriptures each day to give my day purpose and direction. I attend three hours of meetings on Sunday including a meeting where we partake of the sacrament in remembrance of the atoning sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ. For me, my beliefs are who I am. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ means I try to act and speak as He would do. Though I am far from perfect and repent constantly that is my goal!
