Hi I'm Jonelle

I love my family and friends. I sing professionally with my sisters and mother. I'm learning Spanish. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a student who takes pride in my academic work and am currently trying to figure out what to do with my life, just like many other 18-25 year olds. I am taking a break from school for a year and a half to serve a mission for the LDS church in Arizona Tempe, speaking Spanish, which I could not be more excited for. Speaking Spanish is an exciting adventure for me because it is important to me to be well-cultured, which I believe is a result of the way I grew up on the East Coast (I'm a New England-er through and through!). I also hope to someday be well-traveled. I want to see all this world has to offer, even if it takes my whole life! I love to sing. My family has sung together my whole life and in 2008 my sisters, my mother, and I started a group called the Sedgwick Sisters. We perform professionally in Assisted and Independent Living homes all around Connecticut singing golden age Broadway tunes, Jazz and Blues, and WWII Andrews Sisters type music. My love of singing extends into the world of Musical Theater. Some of my favorite plays were ones I had the opportunity to perform in High School which include "Ragtime" and "Into The Woods". Other than that, I love latin dancing, especially merengue and bachata, Zumba, and boxing. I also enjoy sports and outside activities including volleyball, basketball, waterskiing, jet-skiing, and ATVing (can you tell I have a need for speed?). I love to try new things, make new friends, and I love to laugh and love.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found it is the only thing that brings me peace. I need to feel settled and at peace in order to function and through the gospel's principles, ordinances performed through the Lord's authority, and the wonderful atonement which allows me to work with my Savior and give away all pain, sorrow, unease, and anxiety, I find happiness and confidence in my life choices and path. There is a lot of hurt, confusion, and sin in the world and the gospel and loving relationship with the Savior are the only balms that I have found to work when my soul is aching because of anger, addiction, or heartache. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, another testament of Jesus Christ that gives a more complete account of His character and His divine mission. I know He lives and that He will come again. I know that He loves me. I know this church is the same as the one Jesus established when he was on the earth and that it was restored through the prophet, Joseph Smith. I am a Mormon because I find peace in that families can be together forever and that through our Savior, Jesus Christ, we can be clean from our sins and live with Him and our Heavenly Father forever. And that is all I could ever want.

How I live my faith

I see my faith as a part of my DNA. I believe it needs to be something that extends into every facet of my life, affecting the clothes I wear, the words I speak, and the way I conduct myself. Because of this I look heavenward throughout each and every day constantly trying to implement standards of modesty, charity, and other Christ-like attributes into my interactions with others and my perspective on life. I have found this to be the only way I find peace and joy throughout my life. I also try to get involved in my callings in church and extend that into the community, no matter what they are. Soon, my calling will be a missionary, where I will have the opportunity to give community service and teach those that are interested about the Lord Jesus Christ and his gospel.
