Hi I'm Maygan

I'm a humanities major. An artist. A feminist. A folk music lover. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college graduate with a BA in Humanities and an English minor, and when I grow up I want to be a cowboy, a museum curator, and a scholar. I'm infinitely curious & am perpetually discovering new things to be fascinated & delighted by. My interests range from John Steinbeck's work to quantum mechanics to contemporary street art to American folk music & everything in between. More than anything else though, I love people. I love doing silly/stupid things & laughing with strangers, friends, & family alike; I love listening to people talk about & get animated about their passions; I love being with people when they experience both joy and sadness. Anything that allows me to help and lift another person I'm a fan of.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember being 13 and reading the Book of Mormon on my own for the first time. My Bishop had promised me pizza if I read it cover to cover, and well. I like pizza a lot, so I agreed to read the Book of Mormon in order to score some free food. It was really profound motivation, I know. But as I read it the holy spirit slipped into my heart and brought me peace and joy. As I I read Moroni 10:4 and prayed, the Holy Spirit testified of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of Joseph Smith as a prophet, seer, and revelator. Since then my testimony has continued to grow in the face many challenges and doubts, and I have gained a very intimate belief in Jesus Christ's atonement and his transcendent love. Everyday as I speak to my Heavenly Father and learn of him I find more joy, peace, and love than I previously thought was possible.

How I live my faith

Right now I am living my faith by serving a full-time proselytzing mission in Fort Worth, Texas.
