Hi I'm Ben Johnston

I have lived most of my life in Boise, Idaho. I am about to serve a mission in the Russia, Samara Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play sports. Competition is my life blood; I love lacrosse, football, basketball, soccer, frisbee. Really anything that applies to competitions, but I also enjoy other recreational activities. I was in a high school choir, and really enjoyed singing and dancing. I took some swing dancing classes while I was at college, which was awesome. I am now a college student that is preparing to serve a mission, and as of right now that is all I have.

Why I am a Mormon

I started out as a member of this religion because I was born and raised with this Gospel. But the more I listened and applied the teachings that I was given, the more I started to see the blessings of what my faithful obedience wrought. I received a peace and happiness in every action of my life that came from following these truths. And I would like to bear my testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints holds the complete Gospel in it. I have come to witness the great power that can come with having the Gospel in your life, vs. not having the Gospel in your life. I know that we have a living prophet so that we may receive guidance from a loving Heavenly Father, and that as we strive to faithfully obey his commandments we can live with him again. I say this in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I am a college student, and I love to serve others in my community. At my college there was recently a flood, and everyone at the complex came together to help eachother. The entire complex got in a line handing buckets down from one person to another trying to do everything we could to get the water out. We were all poor college students, so the pales we were using were garbage cans, pots, and anything we could get our hands on. This experience was so heartwarming, because we all had a great fellowship and a desire to help each other. I am also an Eagle Scout. My project included doing a drive for the Women and Children's Alliance or the WCA. This is a foundation that helps people who have escaped from domestic violence get back up on their feet. I was able to provide them with the most crucial necessities that I could get, and also more items that could make their lives comfortable, such as toys. This was a great organization that I am glad that I could help. I have callings or responsibilities in my ward. I was called to plan activities for my apartment and a corresponding apartment. This allowed our apartment complex to achieve a great unity.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Ben Johnston
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organised on April 6, 1830 under the leadership of Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith was chosen by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to earth. He was 14 years old when he went into a grove of trees to pray about which church he should join. When he asked this question he was visited by God the Eternal Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. They told him that he should join none of them. Joseph Smith was then directed by heavenly messengers and restored the church to the earth. This Church has spread across the world and developed a nickname of Mormons after The Book of Mormon, but the Church's real name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Show more Show less
