Hi I'm John

I am a Mormon, through and through. Love that Gospel just like you.

About Me

I am a father of 9 children, 30 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. I am a retired building contractor. I have always liked to be outdoors whether it be work or hobby, or play. I love gardening, yard and veggies. I fish and hunt. (mostly fish now, not much hunting) My wife has a full time gardener, that's me. Love to golf. I use a 12 inch foot wedge quite often. I enjoy the arts and am learning to paint. My greatest love is my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I haven't always been an active member of the church. I was baptized when I was 8 years old but my real testimony came later. Like other men at the age of 30 I realized that I wouldn't live forever on this earth. I felt a need to change and be a better example to my young children. I always believed in God, but not enough to keep all the commandments. I loved my wife and wanted to be with her for eternity. I made the temple my goal but had to change to get there. I decided to read the Book of Mormon. It looked long and boring so I started in the middle, choosing the shortest book. I read Enos in one night. Wow! I kind of liked it, so read the next short book the next night. Before long, I was reading in Alma, and was excited each night to get back to my study. I began to pray about it, after reading each night. I was feeling a very strong spirit each night. Didn't take too long after that to read all of it. I know that it is true. A special witness came upon me and I had a great impression to share what I was learning. I then read the Old Testament, then the New Testament. The Book of Mormon is a second witness to these records. I now know that Joseph Smith was and is a Latter Day Prophet and therefore those who came after him are also Prophets. I am a Mormon because I love Jesus Christ. I know that through Him I can return to Him and be with all my family if we are true and faithful and keep the Commandments. I made it to the temple and go there often. As a matter of fact, I serve there about 16 hours a week as a set apart temple worker. I love every minute of it.

How I live my faith

I am grateful to live in a choice land of opportunity and freedom. I have served a four term as a city councilman, and volunteer fireman for 33 years. I worked in boy scouts and youth groups. Member of the Rotary Club.(a Paul Harris Fellow) My great love is to serve others and that opportunity comes often as I serve in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have served in almost every position on the ward level. I was just released from my service as a Bishop.I I hope I can serve many more years wherever I am needed.
