Hi I'm Allie

I play the drums. I read big books. I'm going on a mission to Samara, Russia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, all! Allie is my name, simplicity is my game. I have completed a year at BYU-Idaho, majoring in English. As much as I love my native tongue, I will begin to speak Russian beginning March 11th, 2015 as I liberate my fears and serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, proclaiming His Gospel. A few things that identify me: When the rain is pouring, when the whether is cold, when my cat is friendly, I am content and incandescently happy. I have moved around quite a bit my whole life. I've lived in Memphis, Tennessee, West Virginia, Arkansas, Texas, Idaho, and now Virginia. Music is a passion that will never cease to excite me. I have played the drums (kit) since I was 12. It brings me indescribable joy to create something out of nothing-that something being sound. If ever I had one wish it would be that my siblings and I could begin that band we've dreamed about since birth. I like big books and I cannot lie. Reading has opened up worlds for me. Words bring me peace; words of prophets, poets, and practical thinkers alike have ample validity in my mind.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Book of Mormon is the word of God, translated by the power of God, by the Latter-Day prophet Joseph Smith. I have read the Book of Mormon. And, although I never really doubted it, I have asked God to reveal to me its truthfulness. He has done so. I'm going to be honest, I have never had a real epiphany when it comes to knowing this church is true. But, I have felt the spirit testify numerous times of this church, and that it is the church of God. I grew up in it, and I have felt the spirit in all sorts of atmospheres and forms. I have heard prophets testify of Jesus Christ, I have been given blessings, I have read from the words of inspired apostles and disciples of Christ. All of these things together, over time, have given me a beautiful testimony. I have had instances where I could not deny the power of God brought me out of danger, or influenced me for good. I know Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God and that He restored the church of God upon the earth in this dispensation. I have a testimony of prayer and simple faith, without which I would drown in my doubt and fear. I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. I know that the people who speak in that book were prophets of God and that they lead us in the direction of happiness and safety. But most of all, I know that we have a Heavenly Father who lives and loves us. I know Christ lives. He has redeemed me through His atonement, and will continue to do so throughout the course of my life. He suffered and died for me. He weeps with me. He laughs with me. He is my best friend, my brother, and my Savior.

How I live my faith

My current and favorite calling is teaching Primary! (5-11 years olds) I have learned (and will learn much more) from these children of God. Not only is the Gospel a simple and comprehensible Gospel, it is amazing to hear those truths proclaimed from the mouths of the smallest of angels. Their insight and love has brought me back to the basic principles of what life is about. I feel the spirit testify that they are special. I have put a lot of time and effort to go out with the Sister Missionaries of my ward. There is no better reward than bearing my testimony to an investigator, or just someone on the street. Having the knowledge I do and being able to share it with others is such a blessing.
