Hi I'm Sam

I grew up in Utah, but also lived in parts of Europe. I love playing guitar, being outside, and making art. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Samuel Everett. I am taking a break from attending Brigham Young University to go on a proselyting mission, and I am excited to be serving my God by doing so. I love hiking and being outside, and I am a collector of many things, ranging from rocks to vinyl records. I am an avid mushroom hunter (good porcini grow up in the Uinta mountains), I love reading, writing, playing guitar and listening to music, traveling, knitting, baking, Adventure Time, and art.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the LDS church because it makes me happy. I have a strong testimony of the importance of the individual to God, our Heavenly Father, and I know that he loves every person on this earth. I believe that one of the ways we can find true joy in our lives is by giving service to our brothers and sisters. In Revelations 2:19 it reads, "I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first." In Mosiah 2:17 in the Book of Mormon, it states, "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." I have a strong testimony in the power of service and the effect it has had upon me, and know that as we serve others we are doing what God would want us to do. I believe that we have a living prophet of God on the earth today and that Joseph Smith truly did restore the gospel. I have a testimony in the Book of Mormon, in its power and goodness; I know through prayer of its truth, and I know that anyone can receive a testimony of it through the same way. I also have a testimony of the true Priesthood in the Mormon church: it has blessed my life many times and I have seen its' power. I believe in the importance of creation; I know that God created the earth and all the things upon it, and I believe that the way He created us, whether through organic evolution (what I agree with) or other means is not as important as the knowledge that He is the one who put us here. I also believe that when we create things we are feeling in some small part the joy and satisfaction that Christ felt when he created us. The beauty of our world is a testament to me of the truth of the gospel. I believe that we can find traces of God in all things. I have a firm testimony of Jesus Christ, my Savior. I have faith that he died for us and that through him we can return again to our Father's presence.

How I live my faith

Throughout my youth I helped organize and execute activities based on giving service or strengthening religious faith. I am now serving a proselyting mission for 2 years speaking Spanish in the eastern United States
