Hi I'm Kathleen Hawes

I'm an Artist. I'm Filipino. I love service. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the Philippines. I came to America when I was 5 years old. Ever since then I have grown to love both cultures and love the people I come in contact with. Art is a grand talent that I have been blessed with and something I am very passionate about. Third grade is when I found out that I can actually make something really cool. I then pursued that passion and it has led me to create some wonderful pieces. I went off for my first year in college to study and major in Fine Arts and boy oh boy, lots of hard work, time, and effort has to be put into it. But, I absolutely loved it. In my eyes, the Lord is one of the grandest artist. Like it is said, "Without Art.. Earth would just be 'Eh'." Laughter and service are the best things ever and also some of my favorites. Laughing is a necessity of course..:P But, serving those around you brings great joy! A simple act of kindness goes such a long way and I know that to be true. Smile, it makes peoples day. I have become the person who I am today because of my family, friends, and especially my loving Heavenly Father and Savior. They're my main squeeze.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents are converts to the church. So, I had the amazing opportunity of being sealed to them in the San Diego Temple. That was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had. I remember having a clear feeling of peace, calmness, and love. The feeling of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a constant companion. I didn't understand it at such a young age, but now I know that the Holy Ghost comes when we are at the right place, at the right time, choosing to do good. I know the Book of Mormon to be true, I read it, prayed about it, and got my answer. I know this restored Gospel, thanks Joseph Smith, brings true happiness on the Earth. It has blessed my family tremendously and now... we can live together FOREVER and for ETERNITY. I LOVE being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I will be serving as a full-time missionary in the San Pablo Philippines mission. This has been one of my greatest desires, to serve/represent the Lord and give it my all. Having previous callings has helped me understand the importance of hard work and being a disciple of Christ. For the most part, I was serving and currently am now, in the Young Womens. Being part of the Young Womens program has taught me great lessons of being an example, living gospel standards, learning my role as a young women, preparing for motherhood, and especially knowing that I am a daughter of a King.
