Hi I'm John

I grew up on Portland, Oregon and I now live in Newberg, Oregon. I was baptized at age 27. I sell wire rope. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors and camping. I like most sports. My favorite sport is Nascar. I'm a father of 1, my daughter. She is adopted. I'm married to a wonderful woman. I'm an avid archer and firearms user. We love family and extended family and love having friends over and developing loving relationships with friends. We like to play all kinds of games. We like to visits friends and enjoy other families and their children. We're actively working on our home and improving it's interior and exterior.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I was looking for answers about life. I was just recently divorced and because of that I felt like a huge failure. I was now a statistic in a negative way and I felt that I failed at one thing I never thought I would fail at. I wanted to start over and change who I was and had been but I really didn't know where to start or how to get direction on that. So I prayed after I would get home from work. I told my Heavenly Father that I know life is more than just a job and getting up in the morning to go to work and then come home and eat and go to bed day after day. So I asked him what was in store for me. So I had this female friend that was having the missionaries over and they were sharing the gospel with her and telling her about church and my friend decided that I should call the missionaries, it just fit me. Not sure exactly what she meant by that at the time. But I didn't smoke or drink, I was trying to speak more professionally and more sincere with less vulgar language and cursing in my vocabulary. cursing always felt very negative and dirty and uneducated and if I wanted to be respected then I needed to act accordingly. So I called the mission office and they were excited to send over two representatives that evening to teach me more about what the Mormon's believed. When they arrived, I was surprised that they were so young, but dressed respectfully. So then they started to teach me about God and His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. They spoke about things I have never heard before and they testified about how grateful they were and how much they loved their Heavenly Father. I have never heard anyone speak that way. After they were finished teaching me a lesson I would pray about it and they spirit testified to me that what they taught was true and right and that I need to listen up and put what they said to the test. So I did and I was baptized a month later. It's been a great decision in my life!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by following my savior Jesus Christ. I try to take on the attributes of Christ and try to treat everyone with a genuine love. Sometimes I fail but I keep trying. I love to serve others. I home teaching new member families and help them feel the spirit and feel of their Saviors love for them. Try to help them meet their needs and goals as families and teach about the Savior and his mission in our lives. I lead the full time missionaries in teaching the gospel in our community and connect them with our ward members to help those investigating the church to learn more and to feel of the spirit and to get to know more ward members. Our members are very loving and kind to visitors.
