Hi I'm Tobi

I'm a Jewish convert to the church. Baptized at age 15 in 1971. Currently living in Newport News, Virginia with my Husband, Henry.

About Me

I am 59 years old. Been ill for a while now. Married my high school sweet heart, almost 40 years ago, in Santa Maria, California. We are both converts to the church. We raised two sons and a daughter and are enjoying our 5 grand children. I majored in music and have a pretty extensive musical history on both ward and stake levels. Participated in all facets of church music until I became ill and was robbed of my singing voice in 2005, by that nasty "C" word... (cancer). I miss singing and directing and teaching music. My husband was also a music major. Currently, he performs with an acapella doo-wop quartet, regularly and plays and teaches the "lost art" of the wonderful ACCORDION. I'm very proud of him and participate in musical activities vicariously through him. Henry, (hubby) was in the Army for 20 years, so we've lived all over the place, including 7 years in Hawaii. He retired in 96 and is about 5 years from retirement from his 2nd career in Civil Service. He teaches young military folks how to fix Black Hawk helicopters at Fort Eustis. He loves his job. We both have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His church. I believe this is where Father in Heaven wants me to be. I love the church and firmly know that I'm my best person, for being a part of it. I'm grateful the Lord pointed me to His church so that I could learn the fullness of the Gospel. I believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God, as is the Bible.

Why I am a Mormon

I am of Jewish heritage. When I was 15 years old, after reading in the book of Isaiah, in the Old Testament, the prophecies of the coming messiah, the Spirit of the Lord testified to me that Jesus Christ was the true Messiah. Jesus was, and is, exactly who he said he was! Once I learned this, I began looking into the different Christian churches where I might find Christian fellowship. I visited many, but they were all lacking something. During high school, our choir sang occasionally for different churches in the community. We were invited to sing an LDS Sacrament Meeting. As soon as I entered the building, I felt in my heart, that I'd come "home. To know more, email me at: skooder07@verizon.net. The church is TRUE!

How I live my faith

Currently I am not able to participate in too many church activities, due to my ill health. I attend when I can. I have held many church callings throughout my church membership.
