Hi I'm John Wise

I grew up in the D.C. area. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I played the trumpet in high school, both in concert and marching band. I also played lacrosse and ran sprints in track and field. I love pretty much all kinds of music and believe it has a strong impact on personal growth and emotions. I study Recreation Management at BYU-Idaho where I have lead multiple activities in the outdoors through the student programs. I am a huge scouter and worked on staff at the 2013 national scout jamboree.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this religion, and have always been very appreciative of it. I became baptized and confirmed a member when I was 8 years old. Since then I have been fully active and now I am serving a full time mission for my Lord and Savior, as well as for all those who I will get to interact with while serving. This gospel is so beautiful and rich in truth and knowledge that it is very difficult to try and ignore what can be learned from the religion. My testimony grows constantly over time as I attend regular Sunday meetings and read the scriptures daily.

How I live my faith

Right now I am a missionary for our church, but previously I was an Family Home Evening group leader. FHE is a special gathering once a week where you and your family spend time together by having a small lesson and activity to build bonds and give a break from school and work. At college, we are grouped with other Mormon students and have our own functioning family we meet with once a week. I was in charge of planning the lessons and activities for these meetings.
