Hi I'm Douglas

I live in Caglary Alberta Canada, I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life.

About Me

- I have been married to the same wonderful woman for 42 years - Father of four and grandfather of nine - I have worked in the housing industry most of my life - My favorite sport to participate in is Golf, I also love to fish for salmon, and big game hunt - I love to serve in the Church and my wife and I took two years off from work in 2009 and served a full time mission for the Lord in Peru

Why I am a Mormon

I am a 5th generation member of the Church and I am grateful to have been raised in a home where the gospel was both taught and lived. Notwithstanding my upbringing I went through the same conversion process as any new convert. I had the same questions that anyone might about the veracity of restoration, the Book of Mormon, the Prophet Joseph Smith, did I need religion in my life. To obtain my own testimony of these and the other important questions of life I put the Book of Mormon to the test as described in the introduction and test found in the final chapter of the Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:4 -5. I testify that by the power of the Holy Ghost that you to can know the truth of these things. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have prayed and received a confirming answer to my prayers that this is His Church and through striving to apply the teachings and principles of the gospel in my life I have experienced the hand of Lord in my life. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father and that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to atone for my sins and the sins of all those that would repent and follow him. Our Heavenly Father loves each of us and wants us to return to live in his presence and has given us way in which we can accomplish that goal.

How I live my faith

Being a Latter-Day Saint is a way of life that influences every aspect of my life and is not a label that I put on to go to church and off again when I leave. Striving to live the gospel principles and follow the example of the Lord Jesus Christ is a daily endeavor that brings joy and happiness to me and helps to offset the things that happen to all of us that bring pain and sorrow. Each week my wife, Debbie, and I travel to Banff Alberta (110 KM more or less) to attend church with the faithful Latter-day Saints there perhaps not the significant of a thing but we live within walking distance of church in Calgary, we do it because supporting our brothers and sisters in Banff brings us a lot of joy. As part of that assignment it is our privilege to visit in the homes of our friends and share gospel messages. We dedicate every Saturday morning from 5:30 AM to noon to work in the Calgary Temple assisting those guests that come there to worship. Serving my own family and the family of our Heavenly Father helps to give purpose to my life.
