Hi I'm Daniel Curt Martin

I'm from Pleasant Grove, Utah. I played football for nine years. I am an Air Force ROTC cadet and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently waiting to leave for my mission to Angeles, Philippines. I just finished my first semester at college where I was a part of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Program. I plan to continue with that after my mission, and I hope to eventually serve as a pilot in the United States Air Force. I love the outdoors and sports. Throughout elementary school and all the way up to high school I played football--for a total of nine years. I love going on long runs where I can think and listen to music and enjoy the wonderful world God created. I love to hang out with my best friend Hannah and we like to watch movies together. My favorite vacation spot is Cannon Beach, Oregon. I took German in high school and loved it. Learning languages is something that fascinates me. My brother recently returned from his mission in Paris and it's really cool to hear him speak French. I'm really excited to learn Tagalog for my mission. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I can watch those movies for hours (which isn't hard to do--they're pretty darn long). Along the same nerdy vein, I love Star Wars. I grew up watching Star Wars and when I was young I wanted to be Luke Skywalker. So that's a little bit about me!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know it is true. I have been given everything I have through God and to respect that, I serve others and live the way I know I should and do my best to follow the commandments God gives His Children. And when I mess up, I know I can always be forgiven. That gives me so much hope. It shows to me that God will never give up on me, and despite my failures, He will always love me. It's because of this knowledge that I want to share it with others so they can have the peace that I have experienced.

How I live my faith

I love being part of my ward. There is so much love and service that goes on among my neighborhood that is really unique. An older gentleman that lives nearby me recently had surgery on his hip and I was amazed at the efforts of my neighbors and ward members that gave so selflessly of themselves to help him and his wife with his recovery. That to me is one of the best ways to live my faith--by serving others. I helps me feel close to God because I know that when I show love towards His children, He blesses me and loves me back. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is so simple. In the end, He just wants us to say sorry, please, and thank you. He wants us to say sorry for the times we mess up, say please in asking for forgiveness, and thank you for the blessings that he gives us. This is all possible for through the amazing Atonement. It was what gives my life purpose and carries me from day to day.
