Hi I'm Evelyn Jones

Being outdoors, playing sports, and just having fun are some of my favourite things to do. I also love to read. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Technology is not my greatest strength; however, I love to watch how-to video's on the internet. Usually though, I can glean whatever information I need from my seven siblings. I am currently serving a mission in Canada and love being able to share the gospel with others. My favourite sports are anything that is competitive and action-packed. I plan to study law and will readily admit to being a bookworm. To me, almost nothing can be better than laughing hysterically with friends or traveling to an exotic nature spot...unless it's playing/driving/laughing/joking with my two nieces and nephew.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in a family who was Mormon provided both unique challenges and blessings. I was able to learn, factually, the gospel but until I myself received a witness from God's Holy Spirit confirming that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who translated an ancient record and restored God's church, I wasn't necessarily happy. For the last reason, that is why I have left my home and country to serve a mission; the joy I have felt and the truth I have found is something I cannot keep to myself. I hope everyone to know of the wonder of the 'glad tidings' the church proclaims! The most absolute and complete joy we can feel is to know truth; to know we are literal 'children of the Most High' and can return by living His gospel standards. I want to follow Christ. I want to be like Him. I can only achieve that with His help, in His church which is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing as Jesus Christ would; serving and loving others regardless of ethnicity, religion, etc. I am a missionary in Canada teaching others about the joy of the gospel. By attending church, reading the scriptures, and through prayer, I learn what my Heavenly Father expects of me and what He sees me becoming. With that knowledge, I can then decide what pathways to take that allow me to become as Him. Mainly, learning about Heavenly Father's plan for each of us as His children, enables me to continue pressing on even when life is difficult. It includes being cheerful and enthuastic about whatever lies ahead---challenges or blessings---as those are simply opportunities to grow, help others, and continue back Heavenly Father.

What is the priesthood?

Evelyn Jones
Some examples of those who had the Priesthood include Prophets in the Bible and a modern day prophet. They are given specific authority and power to run the church. Thus, all leaders of the church---even local clergy---have the Priesthood as it is the authority to act in God's name and use His power to bless the people on earth. All male members of the church may qualify for the Priesthood. They are expected to use that authority to bless His children through service, healings, leadership guidence, and performing saving ordiances including baptism. Show more Show less
