Hi I'm Cassandra

I grew up in Boston. I'm passionate about creating. I'm an avid foodie and travel enthusiast. I enjoy life, and I'm a Mormon. :)

About Me

I was born in raised in the greater Boston area. Growing up, I had two older sisters and two younger sisters making me the middle child (which I actually loved). At a very young age, I fell in love with art. I am passionate about designing and creating beautiful things, and get a lot of my inspiration from the natural world around me. I may have lived in a family of only girls, but we loved sports and enjoyed food just as much as a family of boys. I grew up playing basketball, gymnastics, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and my all time favorite- volleyball. I lived in a small suburban town of 15,000 people before attending Brigham Young University, which has 35,000 undergrad-over double the size of my home town! It was a huge change, but the second best decision I've ever made. The first best decision I've made thus far is to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been called to the Idaho Twin Falls Mission, and will be serving for 18 months starting September 2nd, 2015. I cannot wait to share my faith with everyone I come in contact with because it is what makes me truly happy. Among other things, I love the stars, learning and trying new things, spending time with friends and family, and often dream of traveling the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. but that doesn't mean I blindly follow the faith of my parents. One of the many reasons I love this church is because we are asked to find out for ourselves if what we are taught is true. The gospel of Jesus Christ can answer all of the big life questions. It brings purpose and direction to my life. I know that we are all children of Heavenly Father and that He loves us. He knows us each individually; He knows our situation, our needs, and our desires. Heavenly Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to come to earth and take upon himself the sins, pains, and weaknesses of mankind, known as the Atonement. Christ lives, and because of His sacrifice, we are able to repent and change so that we can return to live with Him and our Father in heaven. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is an ancient record, comparable to the Bible, of Christ's ministry in the Americas. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God to translate the book and restore his gospel. I know we have a living prophet on the earth that receives revelation from God for the entire church. I know this is Christ's church and I can't wait to share it full time on my mission. Because Jesus Christ died for me, I will live for Him.

How I live my faith

Attending church has always been a huge part of my life. Every Sunday morning growing up, there would be a fight to get ready in front of the mirror with my four sisters, and I don't know if we would have ever made it if it weren't for my mom, who I'm convinced is Super Woman. But I loved going to church and my love has grown more and more in the past couple years as I was able to lead and mentor a lot of the youth in our congregation. But attending church is just the beginning of how I live my faith. I strive to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, not only on Sundays, but every other day of my life. I try to act and live as He would want me to by serving others and loving them as Christ would. Growing up in Boston, I was the only member of my church in my high school. It was hard at times, but that environment provided me with experiences that have helped me be truly grateful for this church and find commonalities with other faiths. My hope is that I can live my life in such a way that people who don't know Christ will come to know him through me.
