Hi I'm Lisa

I grew up in New Castle, Indiana. Am a convert to the church. Have a wonderful hubby and two grown children.

About Me

Hi! My name is Lisa and I am an empty-nester. I have two children and one grandchild. I just recently graduated college with an AAS degree in Business Administration. I love genealogy -- it is my passion! Other hobbies include camping, reading good books, travel, and needlepoint. I have a wonderful husband and have been a stay-at-home mom nearly since the birth of my first child over 24 years ago. I have been a member of the church since 1995 and have learned so much about myself and my worth as a result of my membership. I love the Lord and want to spend my days serving Him in whatever capacity I can. I love reading the scriptures and learning more about my Savior and His atoning sacrifice for us all. I am so inspired by church members who truly love and live the gospel and am looking forward to meeting many wonderful like-minded people here. Blessings!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read and believe in the gospel as presented by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints -- particularly, the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants. I have a burning testimony of these sacred books and also of Prophets, Apostles, and others that are here to help lead, teach, and guide me through my life. I grew up believing in Jesus and being taught about Him and Heavenly Father, but as I grew older I got away from those basic teachings. I never stopped believing but had no interest in learning more than what I had been taught as a child. After having children I had a great desire to have them know what I had learned and so my husband and I thought about which church we should join. We were both searching for where to go to church when a move to Utah solved that issue for us! After our move we were invited by our 8-year-old neighbor to come to her church. She was a Mormon. That was the beginning of a transformative life for my young family and our testimony of this gospel has grown exponentially ever since. Once we learned the basic principles and doctrine of the church, it all made perfect sense and we found the gospel to be perfect in its simplicity! I have a deep and abiding testimony of Jesus Christ and of my Father in Heaven, both of whom I know love me and want me to succeed in this life so that I may return to live with Them. I know that my entire family can be reunited for all time and eternity. I know this gospel is true with all of my heart and soul. I would invite those who are seeking truth to gain their own testimony by reading the Book of Mormon and opening your hearts to the truthfulness contained therein and allow the Spirit to testify to you of what you learn! Then go and seek out a missionary or a Mormon friend for clarity. Attend a church meeting! As you keep an open mind, your life will change immensely and have more purpose as you feel the love of your Heavenly Father and Jesus! Try it!

How I live my faith

I try living my faith by being Christ-like. Some of that entails serving in my callings as asked and helping out where needed in the church and with church members and those in my community. I have volunteered in the community for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), which is to say, I have helped abused and neglected children to have a voice when needed, I have been a volunteer for the American Red Cross, volunteered in various schools helping children read and learn math, worked with The Literacy Council in my community, served in the Family History Center as a consultant, and have loved doing various acts of kindness in quiet and anonymous ways. Mostly, I try to live my faith by being kind, loving, and giving to those around me and by sharing the gospel.
