Hi I'm Elder Ryan J. A. Edwards

I grew up in the mountains of Idaho. Faith, Family, Firearms, Fireworks, and Bacon. Im serving in the Utah Provo Mission.

About Me

I am definitely not your average Mormon. I love exploring the limits. I'm from a city called Nampa, Idaho. If you havn't heard of it, don't worry. Not many people have heard about it so I'm not surprised. It's the 2nd largest city in Idaho with 90,000 population and is about 20 minutes east of Boise, the capital of Idaho. Before going on a mission for the church, I hunted all the time. Nampa is so spaced out that I can even hunt in city limits so it's pretty legit. I hunted birds like pheasant, dove, and quail. Im a life long baseball player. Grew up playing baseball and all that fun stuff. My favorite baseball team is the Seattle Mariners and yes, I know they lose a lot so get over it. I love watching football and playing but didn't play in high school. I love analyzing professional baseball and college football. My favorite football team is Boise State football. I played golf in middle school and high school too just not for my school. I love my faith, my family, my firearms, my fireworks, my bacon, and anything that goes boom. Love hanging out with friends and doing stupid stuff with guns, fire, and fireworks. I shoot propane tanks to see them do cool things and tannerite which explodes when you shoot it. I love seeing what I can do to make things explode. I like a lot of music. Don't play no loud screaming stuff. I love the Book of Mormon. It's a great book and you should read it. I also love Jesus. He's a cool guy who you should get to know. That's pretty much me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is real. I feel truth when I talk and teach about the church and that's someting I cannot deny. After my mom married my dad, my mom wanted to join a church. My dad was not active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the time my parents got married. My dad suggested joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and so my mom met with the missionaries. My dad then became worthy to baptize my mom and now my family is sealed in the temple. One of the missionaries name was Elder Aerton Calaça Medeiros. My 2nd middle name is named after him because of his service and how good of a missionary he was. My full name is Elder Ryan Joseph Aerton Edwards. Joseph for Joseph Smith who my dad reveres and Aerton for Elder Aerton Medeiros. I am honoring his service by serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Keep in mind, I'm not out here just because I'm honoring his service as a missionary, I'm serving a mission because I know what I am teaching is true. I had questions about the Church when I was about 15. I prayed with a broken heart and contrite spirit knowing God would answer my prayer. He answered it in a way I could have never imagined. He confirmed to me that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. I have had some experiences that are so sacred I cannot talk about, especially on a public forum. The church has answered questions that any other church can't answer. Like where did I come from, why am I here, and where am I going. Other things like does God talk to us today and about prophets. Everything we have in the Church of Jesus Christ is true and is real and is good. Check it out sometime, maybe some of your questions will be answered too!

How I live my faith

I live my faith mainly by teaching. I love teaching others about the true Gospel and sharing my testimony with them. I try to stay in tune with the Spirit so that I may be able to teach them in the way that fits them best. Studying scriptures daily and learning of the gospel through the scriptures is the best way to live the gospel. When we do the very simple things of attending church, reading scriptures, and praying daily, our faith will grow and we will be great disciples of Jesus Christ. So right now, in doing this way awesome thing called serving a mission. I am serving in the Utah Provo Mission and yes I know I'm 6 hours away from home so dont remind me. We're baptizing a ton out here and it's just way sick. Love it out here and wouldn't want to do anything else.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

Elder Ryan J. A. Edwards
We believe the Temple is the house of God. It says that on the facade of the temple. Like anyone, God sets the rules for His house. That is His home on earth. I'm sure you wouldn't let some people enter your home without special permission. Or maybe someone hurt you, your family, your property, etc and you don't want them near your house because they may do something that may damage your property. They would need to sincerely apologize to you to be able to come back to your home or be around your property or family. A lot of it is basically God sets the rules for His house. We must abide by these rules if we are to enter into His house. If we have broken some of those rules, we need to ask Him for forgiveness to be able to enter His house once more. Everything that is done within the walls of the temple edifies and uplifts. We can feel of God's love in the temple and get closer to God in the temple. There are sacred things done in the temple, not secret. They are so sacred that if showed outside the temple, they will be defiled and could be used for bad. All that is done in the temple are things we must do to attain eternal salvation. Only good things are done in the temple. Show more Show less
