Hi I'm Rachel

I love performing. I'm deaf in my left ear. I love my family, warm rain, and Blue Bell Ice Cream. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the baby of 6 kids. I have 4 big brothers and 1 sister. I love my family. They are some of the best people I know and I love having a safe place to belong. In middle and high school, I was very active in theatre and choir. I really grew to love performing and using the talents God has given me. I am grateful for the wonderful power of music and I love to have spontaneous dance parties! I'm currently at Brigham Young University. It is very different from back home and change is hard for me, but I am learning to have gratitude for experiences and opportunities that are put in my life. I am a fierce believer that attitude is everything. I recently received my mission call to the Brazil Belo Horizonte Mission. I am anxiously awaiting these incredible 18 months. I know this is the right plan for me and I trust in Heavenly Father's plan for me. I love making people happy and I know that inviting people to come unto Christ will do just that.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know it is the way to return to God. I know that Jesus is the Christ and because of this, I cannot deny that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church and that it holds the truths of His Gospel. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings more joy than anything else. Life is hard. But the Gospel of Jesus Christ makes its worth it. I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is critical to our salvation and that it is real. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet and that Thomas S. Monson is one today. I know that the Lord knows us perfectly and has mercy and endless, unconditional love for us. I am a Mormon because I know that that is who Heavenly Father needs me to be.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every single day by reading my scriptures and praying to talk with God. I know that He knows the desires of my heart and I am grateful for that. I serve in the church by participating in service opportunities that serve the community and I have held various leadership positions among young women my age. Another way I live my faith is by not just trying to know how Christ acted, but to act like Christ. I try to be kind to those I meet and think the best about people. I know that acting on promptings from the Spirit of the God allows us to develop greater charity for those around us. I believe that faith leads to action and I know that when I act on my own faith, it allows me to be more like Christ and share the joy that brings with others.
